Just curious what you guys think. And remember, I'm not talking about how many prospects they had and ended up losing, but more like which ones spread the word too soon and too often and the prospect ends up going on to lose. We all have our own opinions, but personally I feel, UK overhypes their fighters waaay too far before they are anywhere near tested. The filipinos mostly mention so many fighters that are the next Pacquiao but don't necessarily go as crazy as the UK does to promote them. And PR just has great prospects that the fans moreso hype than the public or media. What are your thoughts? BTW-Is it a coencedent that Rey Bautista, arguably the next best Filipino fighter at the time, and Khan who was insanely hyped, both end up getting KOed in the first rd for their first loss? Pretty fucking sad. :sad2::alcoholic
Ya know, as much as Calzaghe has been pissing me off lately for being a lil bitch not taking the Pavlik fight and then going on to say all this bullshit why not, I don't know if he's actually hype. He has fought challengers that everyone wanted to see him face in the past and beat them usually in dominating fashion minus Hopkins. I think the hate with him is more so because he runs his mouth even after all the good he has done. He shouldn't talk bad about Pavlik or make excuses why he didn't take the fight when there is no real reason behind it. But yeah, Hatton is a definite overhyped turd whose only shitty win(literally, lame performance), was against an aged and wrong time zoned Kostya Tszyu.
Cant agree with you more...I just dont like CalSlappy thats why i threw him in there
UK all the way
Khans uncle, Khan, Hatton, CalSlappy.......

This is true.
Our media hypes and then brutalises all our sports stars. They'll leave Khan alone because he is a 21 year old, in fact I barely read a word about his loss in the papers.
The Khan hype has done alot of good things for British boxing, a lot of good things. Certainly one of the most important British boxers of the last decade despite probably not being able to cut it.
He: 1./Got boxing back on terrestrial television
2./ Brought wider focus to boxing in general, Calzaghe was screen on terrestrial TV-one sports personality of the year, Haye, Maccarinelli, Witter, Mitchell have also appeared.
3./ Increased funding through the lottery to amateur boxing
Not sure any of this shit is possible without Khan. He is a nationwide darling in his own right and a boxer, that's a good thing.
New to boxing are you?
Calzaghe/Hatton had been drawing in alot of viewers when his fights were aired on ITV way before Khan was around lol.
As a matter of fact the fights that are shown on Skysports everyweek have alot of viewers (way before Khan also)
This just proves how some people believe the papers too much, the Khan hype has clearly gotten to you and you now believe that he is some type of messiah to the sport, Khan has done nothing for british boxing and nothing for british viewing.
I agree to some point that Khan has given boxing a sense of rebirth in the media world bust as far as on television....thats ridiculous.
Boxing has been a major sport in Britain for years, step you boxing knowledge up.
I will go with Australia, based solely on UltimateBoxa.
Hahaha.
But on a serious note it is kind of distrubing how little respect our fighters get out here. After Kat's fight the other day I watched the news and there was like a 20 second story just before the weather. The only fighter that gets any news coverage really is Mundine and that is just because he is a bit of a cunt.
UK no Doubt. They have so many undefeated fighters only because they fight bums. When 90% of them steps up to the world class they get knocked out. Hatton Got exposed but He's still world class. Calzaghe Needs to fight someone in their prime, sure he dominated Kessler but Kessler aint no Pavlik or Abraham. Haye Runs his mouth sooo much that he hypes his own self up. Too bad Klitchko will expose him next year...
I have to ask on what basis Kessler is "no Pavlik or Abraham", but I don't want you to answer because I suspect it won't make much sense.
LoL. I was gonna put Mexico but really I can't think of any fighter they've hyped to be honest besides Chavez and so far, in the matches he looks bad in, he's usually dominated. Not to say he won't get his come up fight, but he's looking more natural and solid than most other upcomers considering he's got no amateur experience. Mexico is no bullshit. If they have a real good fighter, they'll throw his ass into the lions cage with like 10 fights under his belt to see if he's really worth their time. Haha :boxing:
besides chavez? uhm. bojado? the next golden boy. :D

I would go with the UK simply because the press over there is insane. They can be equally brutal though.

Philippines wasn't hyping their boxers until Pacland and the Cebuanos came riding on Pacman's popularity to sell previously unknown fighters Bautista, Gorres and Banal. Mexico always had a "next Chavez".

Plain and Basic Common Sense.
Add one more, I'm not saying the whole Mexican country, just add the Chavez family as one of your options too!
