Do You Miss Having Someone Like PBF At The Top?

I feel like that about Gamboa also, hes not going to just develop a defense, why would he? He has all that fucking power. But of those guys i named, the only guys in the game right now that ISNT over 30 are Mijares and Donaire. I hope Hasegawa gets some more big wins and shows his face a bit more because i respect that guys fight game alot. But like you said, those other guys are over 30 or about to be 40 in some instances. The days of the Pure Boxer are slowly leaving us. At any given era, we had about 3 or 4 or 5 masters active, now we have just a few, soon i fear we may have 0, and PBF leaving leaves a huge void in that department. That guy was dedicated to the craft, and not many of these guys are really schooling themselves like he did anymore. I think it s worse than that. I think that the further back you go in time, the larger the number of masters you find. Which would mean there is a trend, which means that after 1 comes 0. :( Isnt it crazy the way Gamboa fights, even though he comes from Cuba? I would expect him to be more polished.

im just wondering,looking at the p4p list there is not really anyone like him about...not in terms of boxing! i mean do you miss his trash talking and flashy antics? i think it makes boxing exciting...every fight he was involved in was exciting. i dont mean in the ring i mean out of it! I miss seeing him hit and not get hit in every outing...he's the best at it.. if ur the best at something and u retire from that of course ur gonna miss seeing the best...Floyd's unmatched when it comes to skills, smarts & athleticism. It was nice to see him capitalize on other fighter's mistakes. Its impossible for anyone not to make a mistake vs. Floyd. Only way Floyd loses is father time or moving up to middleweight.

He is the KING of trash talking. as in terms of boxing ability then yes...there is only one floyd. but there are tons of good trash talkers...mayorga is probably one of the best of this time period. what floyd did was push buttons. he knew how to get whatever reaction he wanted out of people.

I need to watch more (or again) of Mijares and Donaire, I am impressed by their fights I have seen, but wasnt ready to put them with those names. The saddest part is that the other fighters you mentioned are over 30. I have high hopes for Linares and Juanma Lopez. Gamboa seems like a lost cause to me.
