According to Fightnews, he's fighting on the JMM - Casamayor undercard.
Given the current status of the Heavyweight divsion, can Andrei Arlovski, a former UFC Champion make some waves in the glamour division?
He's a huge guy with monster power and fighting skills. He is also Eastern European; seems they've taken over at Heavyweight already.
Be good if he starts fighting right away though cuz he don't have much of a heavyweight career right now. I see more guys like him goin to heavyweight boxing cuz they don't like the ground aspect of UFC and MMA.
I guess he could make some sort of impact if guided correctly.
Saw him out like two weekend's ago at a club in Chicago. I had no idea he was prepping for a fight.
What? :?!:
In mma if you get hit with a bomb there are several different things you can do off the clinch that would not only buy you time to recover but actually score offensively as well. In boxing however all he's going to be able to do is hang on for dear life. most mma fighters will not be able to take repeated bombs and be able to only retaliate with striking
I don't really see the point of Arlovski going pro in boxing, especially since he's been doing MMA quite some time and at his age (28) how much does Andrei realistically expect to advance his career?
guessing that Arlovski isn't making his debut on the Casamayor-Marquez under card as he's fighting for Affliction just 1 month later.
No. the man had devoted his life to mma. Just fighting stance alone would be a huge transition. Good stance in mma would be bad 4 boxing and vice versa. The ironic thing though is that it is much easier to unlearn boxing habits than mma habits. It'll be hard 4 him to get hit with a bomb and not be able to turn to a takedown as a counter
I agree. Good post!

hard to say how serious he is with his boxing, personally if he fights more than 5-6 times I'm suprised.
If he should continue,he could build a decent record against against weaker opposition but would be taken out by any top 25 heavy
I wonder why hes taking the time to turn pro in boxing? I doubt he will fight more than a few times, not with his MMA career is going well. I was suprised to hear this.
I don't think he's taking this too seriously, he's still going to fight for Affliction sometime in the future so I doubt he will transition to boxing fully.
He's pretty well skilled for a MMA fighter, his striking is probably one of the best out there in MMA because of his training with Roach but he still throws wide punches sometimes and gets squared up etc., he also doesn't possess a very good chin. It'll be interesting to see how he does though.
