I know making money is important, and you should try to get as much of it as you can before your reign is over.....but for christs sake mayweather is loaded. He has SO much money. He really needs to stop turning down fights because the money isnt there. If he wants to consider himself the best he needs to beat the best welterweights.......and that certainly wont be Ricky Hatton.
Floyd will come back in a year after he gets bored and misses the big stage i guarantee it. All the greats come back and Floyd still has alot left in the tank. He may not fight for a while but fight again he will im sure of it. He needs to let his hands heal too.
If PBF only wants money he need not really come out of retirement because he has enough cash for 3 lifetimes.
But if he wants to improve his standing in historys top boxers, he needs to add to his resume. Right now he is probably as high as 25th best boxer ever.
It's a way of life.
wouldn't the DLH/Pacquiao winner be a better, more likely fight for Hatton to take?
besides I don't think Ricky wants to waste HBO and Mayweather's time by going up to 147 and getting handled again.
**he can always blame it on the ref though.
LOL..... The funny thing is, after Fats gets beat by Malignaggi, you'll still be saying there will be a rematch. It isn't happening.
Floyd is not coming back. The $7 million is almost nothing to Floyd Mayweather...he probably even already got a large sum of it back, assuming he has insurance.
the only way there will be a rematch is if Floyd blows all of his money like most rich, black athletes in this era do. And that would be a tune up fight.
Like I said: Here first.

Money is probably the biggest factor, but Mayweather nickname aside.
Why do you think he retired this year .. if he was set to make an easy $20 Million or so (prob more) off the DLH rematch.
then again Hatton would be a much easier opponent for Floyd. (not to mention the easier opponent to hit)
it still amazes/depresses me that at the top of his game, the biggest fights being talked about for Mayweather were DLH and Hatton rematches.
that didn't happen with the other biggest boxing stars, shame it went that way with Floyd.
There's no meaningful fight left for Floyd, $ wise and/or legacy wise. Except for MAYBE Hatton, if he convincingly beats Paulli.
All of the unbeaten guys are losing their 0's(Cotto, Williams, soon Berto), every guy that is the top guy will lose(Margarito will continue to lose, so will Williams and others). So I don't see a huge fight great for his legacy, like Miguel Cotto could have been.
And then the big money fights like Oscar and Hatton may be done soon.
But I will agree that Hatton would be the most likely opponent IF Mayweather comes back. But I doubt it.
Floyd was on Showtime tonight. Reiterated he is not coming back and said he didn't leave because of motivation or boredom. Just wants to watch his kids grow and spend more time with his mother. Seems pretty convincing.
if Floyd came back to rematch DLH or Hatton, his legacy would be crucified.
which is probably why he retired this year going into the DLH rematch anyway.
coming back in 2009 to face Hatton again is a gigantic waste of time for all parties involved.
