DELAHOYA - PACQUIAO IS ON!
Thursday, August 28 2008
The wait is over and the fight is on…Olympic gold medalist and 10-time world champion "The Golden Boy" OSCAR DE LA HOYA will face current Ring Magazine No. 1-ranked pound for pound champion MANNY "Pacman" PACQUIAO on Saturday, December 6 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada in a bout that will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank, Inc., the bout will be a 12-round, non-title fight contested at the 147-pound welterweight limit. This exciting and intriguing match-up pits two of the most recognizable and popular talents in the sport today in what will surely be the grand finale of the 2008 boxing calendar year.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Manny Pacquiao is considered the best fighter in boxing today and I always want to fight the best," said De La Hoya. "I am glad we were able to make this fight happen because while Pacquiao is at the pinnacle of his success and has defeated all of the top fighters he has faced, I am going to show the world that it stops with me. December 6 can't get here soon enough."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"This is my greatest challenge," said Pacquiao. "When I take that walk to the ring to fight Oscar, I will carry all the people of The Philippines - the entire country - on my shoulders. I promise I will fight with all of my heart and that I will give everything I have. Like my trainer Freddie Roach says, I have what it takes to win the biggest fight of my life."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After several weeks of amicable discussions between De La Hoya's company, Golden Boy Promotions, and Pacquiao's promoter, Top Rank, Inc., a deal was struck this week ensuring fans around the world the opportunity to see this dream match-up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Richard Schaefer, Chief Executive Officer, Golden Boy Promotions said, "This fight will have the whole world talking and will be a fantastic night for boxing. Oscar's career has always been defined by taking on the biggest challenges and fighting best names in boxing. This fight against a great champion like Manny Pacquiao is just another testament to his readiness to face the strongest competition and continue his legacy as one of the greatest fighters boxing has ever seen."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum, Chairman of the Board, Top Rank added, "This fight is what all sports fans are looking forward to, a contest between two champions who come to fight and who are the most popular names in boxing today. Manny Pacquiao is taking on a major task in facing the legendary Oscar de la Hoya, but we at Top Rank are very confident Manny will handle himself extremely well."
Erik Morales left overs thats why.
Morales beat Pacquiao.
And before you tell me Pacquiao won the second fight, remember Morales already lost to a fighter before there second fight, shit he lost to Barrera going into there 1st fight.
Left overs, Delahoya is beating on Morales left overs.
I feel sorry for you.. really.
You BUM(think about it.)
naw you should stop talking
Vanes just made a statement as a MAN! maybe you should learn to be a MAN but I notice you mexifans are low...no class or honor it seems.
Read again what Vanes typed thats a statement from a real Man not some low slimeball like you who is hating on a fighter.
just leave man you lack class.
Why you trying to sound all serious and like you care about whos being a man.
Your the child molester who made that thread of a 13 year old. Don't worry about me you're the one with the problems.
You should act like a man and stop hating on Mexicans as thats all the cum out of your mouth.
Still hasn't proven it to me.
I've said it before when he was going to fight Soto. If he could beat Soto, would show him more respect but even then he still is forcing the 130 pounders to move up to his more comfortable weight.
Remember Morales wanted the 3rd fight at 135? And people and Pacquioa acted like they were being disrespectfull and would give up an edge, Now look who has the edge. Pacquiao fighting the fighteres he left behind as his comfortable weight. And im supposed to respect him....he got to earn that shit not hide behind Delahoya. After Delahoya beats Pacquiao its doesnt matter that he loses his next fight cause he'd probably be damged goods depending how Delahoya treats this fight.
so your bitter?

Pacs worst nightmare is going up into the ring and having to face Marquez again.
Shit is funny how in the 2nd Marquez fight, Pacquiao would clap his gloves together as he is going to charge Marquez only to have Marquez charge at him and Pacquiao to run backwards. That shit was funny, happened like a million times.

yo ferocity if pac just in case defeats dela hoya by a scripted fight who is next for him? are the mexicans going to call ZORRO?
no, we'll just call Marquez, of if you lookiing for a big guy, Margarito, or a bigger Mexican then Andrande, or even a bigger Mexican Arreola, you seem to understand why Pacquiao is taking steriods to take on the biggest baddest Mexican around Arreola

I partially aggree but to be fair the blame is on both.
YA... anyhow, as much as we disagree with such fights, Im sure both me and you will watch this fight nevertheless.
lets hope at least that it lives up to its hype better than DLH/Mayweather did.
hey at least pacman got balls to step up, why dont you tell Margaritas to stop calling out oscar and fight king arthur or pavlik?
You think if Arthur or Pavlik were as big time as Delahoya and waving 15 million in Margarito face, you're telling me Margrito wouldn't go up in weight for 15 million. Well if thats what you're telling me then you hate on Margarito more then i thought you did Mexicans.
Hey, remind me why Pacquiao held out for so long to sign for the Delahoya fight?
Was it really because of money -lmao- whats he need it for the hospital bill.
I give Pacman all the chance in the world to win this... thats not the question.. I just dont enjoy these supposed BIGG fights being made where one or both fighters are all but DONE..
its a shame to have to watch these fights grow so big when there are so many other MEANINGFUL fights that could use some of this attention.

Yeah, I definitely don't like this fight! I don't know if you've seen my posts. But a very different reason from yours. After Pac fights DLH and earn 15 Million Dollars...there's no way he will fight Guzman or Marquez anymore for a mere 2-4 million. What I'm saying is DLH will fuck up Pacquiao's career by making it short. The fans lose, instead of 5 to 6 more fights for Pac...it's just be 1 or 2 more (Hatton or PBF). Nobody else can match what Pac will earn in this fight than a match with Hatton or PBF.
Worst is Pacquiao will retire after the big payday. I can see that coming. Pac has mentioned retiring several times after some more fights and this fight DLH can give him money he can earn in 3-4 fights.
You must of hated all the past greats of boxing.
Cause if they were great most likely they did what Delahoya is doing.
You should be mad a Pacquiao and he media and pac nutthuggers who couldn't let it go. I recall Delahoya used to just laugh when asked about Pacquiao, he seen people talking and giving Pacquiao a chance so he took the fight. And Pacquiao keep pressing for the fight. 2 men are to blame not one.

I very much hope Manny beats the Tranny and Tranny at last retires man... I hate this last minute "money milking" he is doing... just like Hopkins... like RJJ
I cant stand guys wayyyyy past their prime bein the center of attention and being involved in "Huge Fights"
