Haha, I always love seeing the look on cracker jack's face in that picture. He looks like he wants to move in case people start shooting.
The crackerjack is Australian Peter Norman, who supported the two guys beside him (by wearing a black power badge) to his own detriment, being frowned upon by the Australian athletics authority and who campaigned for black rights in his home country...
It was he who suggested that the two black athletes wear a glove each as one had forgotten his...
At his funeral, the two athletes alongside him carried his coffin...
Hard not to root for both guys. Roy is just a sympathetic figure at this point. A former great trying to recapture something he no longer has. Then you have Calzaghe, who's been disrespected and underrated because of his fighting style and nationality.
I just want to see a good fight.

I'm wanting Jones to win and I think he will... He will need to be tight on his game and a little luck wouldn't hurt but overall I think he is the better fighter. I'm using the word "think" because I'm not completely sold on the Tito win. Tito was not a huge threat in that fight, he was unmotivated and just fighting for the paycheck. Jones was hungrier and it showed. I think he will even be hungrier for this fight. That's why his talents will overcome Calz....
Great preview.
I see it the same way. I don't think Roy will have the engine to last all night any more. It's a pity we didn't see this fight years ago. Would have been a cracker. Both great fighters.
Great minds think alike..or maybe just us old guys have a more dispassionate way of looking at this matchup.
Yeah, it would have been a fight of the century candidate if these two had met in their youthful primes. I have a hard time even imagining the fireworks that would've been on display had these two met when both felt they were 10' tall and bulletproof.
Business all too often gets in the way of the more spectacular matchups in this sport, unfortunately, and has prevented the fight world from seeing what would've been the more crowd pleasing fights over the years. Promoters, managers, sometimes even the fighters themselves, often deliberately prevent them for one reason or another. The joke's on them, though...if we had more showcase fights, the sport would be 10 times more popular than it is (like it used to be), and those morons would be making a respective amount of money.
At first I was taking a "may the best man win" attitude to this fight.
That has changed now with Hopkins taking Pavlik to school, a RJJ Hopkins rematch with both of them coming off of these kind of wins would be the most amazing thing ever, pretty much.
COME ON RJJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
