my point is this:
both fighters are at the same point in their careers: both tito and oscar are diminished physically to a degree, but more so reputation wise (as far as losing big fights recently). neither fighter deserves a shot at a title at this point. why not fight at a catchweight? why not take the opportunity to avenge the most embarrassing, if not controversial loss of de la hoya's career? it's way more credible than fighting a guy who started his career at 106, or taking an undeserved shot at the welterweight crown.
the money is right; these are 2 of the most well known fighters of the last quarter-century. i refuse to believe tito cannot get down to a reasonable weight for a potentially 8-figure paycheck.
hbo can sell a de la hoya vs. trinidad II fight, and no one loses any credibility.
