I am kindly trying to prove a point to someone. When i said that Calzaghe has never beaten a prime fighter that was on the pound for list the Hopkins has done for so many years, he says that pound for pound lists doesn't matter anymore and Hopkins only fought blown up welterweights. Then he talks up Kessler and Lacy land stated that they were better than anyone that Hopkins has beaten. Calzaghe is a very good fighter and one of my favorites but come on. I like this guy who said this but he is in over his head.

Hopkins biggest names came mostly after his prime and the big names were also after their prime. And Calzaghe fought alot of unknowns too I dont give either an edge.
Since I haven't seen Hyperion reply to this, I will. You say his does to little? Does that include throwing over 1000 punches against Ike Quartey and hunting down Jermain Taylor?
see this is the problem with winks style(well actually not his style but how it is perceived by idiot people) he is so consistent that the moment he slows down a little(aka, goes into a little more of the shell mode for the end of the round even if he already won the early part of the fight while throwing and landing more and is getting punched with nothing....or moves more like he did vs taylor in the last minute fo the round) people only notice that he slows down...and dont notice the fact that he already had the round won(while throwing and landing a lot...and more accurate).....or majority of rounds won.....
Convicted felons have a harder time getting a job, so I feel Calzaghe would do better during the human resources background check.
So Calzaghe has a better resume. Especially if it's on really good paper with a lot of action words and accomplishments really spelled out.
However, some of those hr people are pretty dumb so it might not make it to the hiring manager of the department Cal wants to be in.
employee background checks only go back 7 years. :D
I don't think I am delusional. Calzaghe is a pretty tough prospect for anyone. How do you beat a guy who always comes at you, always throws more shots and who you can't stop? It's hard?
I think Calzaghe was the reason that Bernard did so little in that fight, you have to admit no-one ever pressurised Bernard in that way before. Hop's game has always been to wreck his opponent's style by shutting them down when they come at him, making them cautious and then mauling them lunging in with short punches. Against Joe he had so much to worry about neutralising that there was really very little he could do in the way of attack, and I don't see it being different at any point in their careers.

Thats right. I think Joe Calzaghe is the best boxer of all time, and Kessler is second.
I think Calzaghe would have gone through them all without too much difficulty. Tarver would be a difficult fight (if Tarver did actually fight!) and Winky wouldn't get humiliated, but I wouldn't give him much hope, he does too little for one thing. Trinidad and ODLH would be too small. I'd give Kessler as good a chance against Hop as any of them against Joe, think of the Jones fight, the way Jones stayed on the outside and darted in and out, Kessler could do something similar. I could imagine Bernard mauling Kessler to death too though.
