Hopkins starts cautiously, takes over in the later rounds of the fight and wins a decision.
McClellan is a better middleweight puncher than Echols, Trinidad, Pavlik but he was never the kind of a fighter who brought his speed and power with him to the later rounds.
Source please !Where did you read that?? Or did you just make that up for some adduce reason??BS i say.
It's been pretty well documented that McClellan had frequent headaches after the first Jackson fight.
Lets not forget McClennan was suffering from frequent migranes, and was not well coming into the Benn fight, .Source please !Where did you read that?? Or did you just make that up for some adduce reason??BS i say.
Hopkins.
McClellan was a vicious puncher, but has become overrated due to the "what could have been" factor, as often is the case. Hopkins had considerably better skills and ring IQ than G-Man, who was becoming increasingly sloppy technically at the end of his career.
Hopkins wins a UD or stops Gerald late.
I don't think Hopkins could come close to stopping the G-man. Lets not forget McClennan was suffering from frequent migranes, and was not well coming into the Benn fight, and he would spar with Hearns early in his career, and was never hurt, let alone going down to Hearn's right hands in sparring. Be that as it may Hopkins takes a decision.
It would be a war because Mcclellan was ferocious..
didn't Jones and Mcclellan fight in amateurs?
Yes, and Jones tasted the canvas. and lost the fight.
McClellan KOed Jones in the amateurs and that's with head guards on.
Not true. It was a 3 round decision for McClellan from a back and forth war. There was no KO.

Okay, it seems like everyone agrees that Hop would win prime vs prime, but what about the Hopkins that beat Glen Johnson?
Hopkins was more open back then, so I would give Gerald a good chance. He seemed to take Jackson's best punches so I think he'd be able to take Hopkins' and land some of his own in return. Hopkins has a great chin though so...who takes it?
Hopkins wasn't that open for Glen really. He just fought him that way to spoil his style. Glen was easy to tee off and move out the way, high gaurd wasn't so important. Pac kinda fought Diaz the same way, and both fights offense and legs served as the only defense needed.
Since Gerald is pretty much a vegetable, I'll go with Bhop.
Hahaha you're just back from ban and already right back at it again. Yeah BHop to win the decision..
