I personally would love to see it. I know Joe has a great following on this site that will be quick to say how easily Joe would win but that not what I'm getting at. Regardless of who wins I think it would be fun to watch. Johnson comes forward and throws a lot of punches as does Joe. I think it might be a good fight to watch and would probably end up being pretty close. Though I doubt this fight will happen I do hope to see Joe not retire and fight Jermain Taylor or Chad dawson. The fight with Roy should be pretty good but I wanna see Joe against someone who has been more active in the past couple of years. Anyways what do you guys think Calzaghe vrs Johnson would look like? Discuss.

i like johnson's chances. I still think calzaghe wins based on his speed tho.
I agree, close ish but clear UD for Calzaghe. Prime Johnson would challenge him, and be very tough indeed. Calzaghe would get caught by a few shots, small chance he'd be on the back foot once or twice like he did with Mitchell. But look what happened there. When Mitchell and Eubank charged and through loads Calzaghe for once held back, even slightly moving back for once, getting some nice counters in. Dawson wasn't able to do that quite so cleverly even with his reach.
Joes a much better tactician and would adapt perfectly to a slightly predictable Johnson, whom would end up a little confused as to how get to an illusive Joe.
I think it's interesting most think Calzaghe would win, how great a win it would have been. It was an injury much like he has one now and did before Lacy. He said recently on his own site that not being able to fight Johnson through injury is his biggest regret. Shame Johnson woudn't take it slightly later woulda boosted Calzagehe's career big time, which was needed.
Really? where did you see the interview? I would love to hear what he says.
It's on one of the more hated sites. Here's what he says:
"I think Joe is going to be Joe and it should be an easy win for Roy Jones Jr. I think Joe is all hype. He's coming from England with all the fans, and the networks are jumping on his bandwagon because he's a superstar in England. Now he's all of the TV networks big deal. I think he's an overrated fighter. He just slaps a lot and doesn't throw any real punches, Roy Jones should have a nice time."
Apparently he still thinks its 2002.
Johnson was just so hungry at that time and had a way of breaking opponents wills. Not too long after that fight fell through Johnson knocked out Roy Jones pretty bad.
The difference is that Calzaghe still had his legs and confidence and Jones had neither. I'd say Calzaghe would win, but it'd look an awful lot like Dawson-Johnson.
Dawson-Johnson was real close. In fact a lot of people feel Johnson won. I can see the aguement there and think he should have got a rematch. (Chad would never do it.)
Link please!
Johnson's a little bitter. He has some pretty nasty things to say about Calzaghe in his latest interview.

would you class me as a sadest
if i told you i always want the underdog to get his arse kicked !?
LOL..There many who feel the same. I feel that way in some situations. If the underdog is being held up to something more than he actually is then I do want him to get exposed!
Johnson really's on constant pressure and being able to outlast his opponent with his workrate and taking advantage when they are tired. Calzaghe doesn't get tired and doesn't get outworked. close but clear UD calzaghe.
I think a lot of us would root for Johnson. Something about the underdog sometimes. The thing is I think he would be in the fight and would be close to pulling off the upset if he didn't actually do it.would you class me as a sadest

I'd root for Johnson, but I think Joe C would UD him.

I think Calzaghe would have won but Johnson would have made him work even harder than he normally does for every minute of every round, I just think Calzaghe would be able to flurry and then move out of the way before Johnson counters, Johnson normally likes to wait until his opponents finish punching before punching back himself, Calzaghe could have taken advantage of that.
Do you see any knockdowns happening? Either side?
