Theres more to it than height
baldo was 13 pounds heavier than him fight night
Floyd also carries a nice are reach advantage in most fights as well.
All of this talk of him being some type of undersized midget is garbage.
True.. Margs also a big WW probably a natural Junior Middle or Middleweight, Floyds fought bigger guys his whole career until the recent Hatton fight
Mayweather fought
DLH
Ndou
Sosa
Corrales
Carlos Gerena
Genaro Hernandez
Tony Pep
That hardly makes up for his whole career. He was actually bigger than the majority of his opponents. He even fought guys as small as 5'4 and 5'2.
I would like to see winky vs margo
margarito's style is based on being the bigger guy. he wouldnt do well at all above 147. he'd be an average 154 lber.
Very true he did out class him but I think would have out classes him if he had come in at 180 lol. He also beat Oscar at 154 but he can only get away with it with certain fighters. I wouldn’t want to see May get in the ring with Vernon at 154.
True..but look at Baldomir and Hatton..Both walk around 180 lbs, and have to drain themselves to get down to 147. On fight night Baldomir weighed like 165. Mayweather was 149, and still outclassed him severely.
Well that's because Baldomir just isn't very good.
Still, your point is taken regarding Floyd. It's about skill with him and that's why he's been successful through multiple divisions.
I agree he is a gym rat I don’t think that’s the only reason. I feel 140 is a better place for his size and I do agree he does have the skill to beat any WW, but most of the fighters at WW right now are really big. Margarito and PW are really big WW, and weight at or over 160 on the night of the fight.

I think it’s not necessarily where a fighter starts because as we all know fighters will drain themselves to stay at a certain weight. I think it’s how comfortable a fighter is at that weight and how hard or easy it was that make weight. The weight in at the night of the fight also speaks volumes of where the fighter should fight. For example, mayweather has never weight in over 150 on the night of a fight (to my knowledge) on the other hand the top 5 WW have all weight in at or over 155 on the night of the fight. In my opinion I don’t think May or Zab should be fighting at WW.
Mayweather is a gym rat thats why he never really weighs over 150 at fight night. He is always walking at or near the WW limit of 147 lbs. Mayweather looked his best at 130 and 140. He lacks power at 147, but he does have the speed and skill to beat the top welters.

yeah but the Majority of Floyd's career was at 130 (26 of 39 bouts...) the majority of Oscar's career was at or above 147 lbs.
Oscar is comfortable at 154 but his best weight is probably 147. Oscars frame and power carried very well to 154 and terrible at 160.
LOL Dela Hoya started below 135..
Floyd started below 135....
you make ZERO sense :smashfrea

Yea but who did Mayweather beat at welterweight? Thats like Margarito going to 160 and only fighting someone like Felix Sturm or Mora and then moving back down.
But he did fight DLH at 154, which would be like marg moving up to fight a Tarver or Dawson for one fight.
just like he did to an old Castillejo!
true, but Sturm beat him somewhat convincingly in the rematch, and Castillejo was a career JMW/MW...marg has fought 99% of his career at WW, and if he moved up to MW, Sturm would out box him. I aint taking nothing away from Marg, he is a great prize fighter, he just doesnt have what it takes to be a champion in multiple weight classes. If you look throughout the history of the sport, all Fighters who have moved up in weight and captured titles in multiple weight divisions usually has a lot of speed and skill. Marg has a lot of tenacity and will power, but he doesnt have speed to be sucessful at multiple weight divisions.

Yea the difference is Felix Sturm will put it on Marg at 160
