I've been lurking on here for awhile and there is a lot of UK/US hate. A lot of it is in jest, but some of it is serious. One of the things I see most is people either attacking or hyping Mikkel Kessler.
My take on the man is quite simple, he may have top 10 P4P talent but he doesn't have the resume to match. When your best wins consist of Mundine and Andrade there is really no basis for people claiming he is Calzaghe's best win or that he belongs in the top 10 P4P.
Your take on Kessler is basically correct. As for whether it's Calzaghe's best win is a matter of opinion. Fans are not duty bound to agree with P4P rankings. Kessler was easily Calzaghe's best boxing performance, was in his prime and the fight gave the winner undisputed status as best SMW in the world. It was a pretty big win. When Calzaghe fought B-Hop, Hopkins was past his prime, had two losses to Jermain Taylor, his last two wins were against pretty old guys, a very poor Antonio Tarver and an out of weight Winky Wright. Had Joe fought a prime B-Hop it would be no contest, but it wasn't. I think a case can be made either way, but I think beating Kessler was more impressive.
Let me add that at this time last year Calzaghe was ranked no. 8 p4p by secoundsout and Kessler no. 9.

Yup.
Look at post fight Andrade, Bika is seen congratulating Kessler. Bika said Kessler would beat Calzaghe if I recall or he said it would be very close.
Man I didn't know that, when was this? Where did they spar and over how long?
Bika's a big personality and doesn't like losing, so to spar with a guy a few positions higher than him in the SMW's it's interesting he'd not only do that but admit Kesslers much better, must be frustrating.
I my memory serves me correctly it was for the Andrade fight.
Bika? Bika used to be Kessler's sparringpartner. Bika has tremendous respect for Kessler and said he was in a class of his own. By way of that statement I wouldn't really expect such a fight to be competitive at all. I would rate Sartison>Bika>Haussler.

Kessler's durability is in question to me, mentally and physically. and Im not just talking about how he sort of fell apart after getting hit by unspectacular shots by Calzaghe...he seems to be a little too jarred by punches that really shouldnt hurt him all that much.
sounds crazy, but I would be interested in seeing him against someone like Sakio Bika. not many would be jumping for this fight, but its a hell of a lot better than these Haussler and Sartison fellows with the built up records hes been fighting, and a win over Bika would be a better win than almost all his other ones.

Thanks to the brilliant brains running the alphabet title rankings, we get to watch Taylor beat shot Lacy, Froch beat somebody I cant remember the name of and Kessler defend against the equally mighty Haüsler..
It's difficult to rate Andrade, I'm looking forward to him vs. Bute. Anybody who looses steam against Andrade will get KO´d.

Bringing all those things you talk of together, where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Andrade,Beyer,Mundine,Lucas and siaca are all better fighters than lockett. Lockett is a complete bum who had his record padded in typical frank warren style.
Andrade is barely decent. Mundine is decent at best. Really, these are some terrible names.
Eric Lucas? Yeah, maybe five years ago!
Manny Siaca? Don't make me laugh. Roy Jones Jr. got SLAMMED for even mentioning him as a potential fight just a year or two ago.
Seriously, you guys are making the case against Kessler easier and easier. Not that it's that hard to begin with. Mikkel is a solid fighter, nothing more until he proves it in the ring against other solid fighters and (gasp!) elite ones, not by looking good against mediocre opposition.
Kessler doesn't have 4-5 solid wins, maybe 1 or 2 if that. Those "solid wins" fighters have nothing on there resumes ether except a "0". They were the equivalent of Gary Locketts.

I'm not comparing them, read a post properly before you criticise it. What i'm saying is Pavlik has two decent names on his resume, one world class fighter and one solid fighter (Miranda). Kessler on the other hand has wins over 4-5 solid fighters and is never given any credit for these wins.

If you looked at his resume you'd know he's got wins over five world champions and a draw with another. Some of them were junior middleweights, but boxers move up all the time. Look at almost any top fighter's resume and you'll see it full of fights against smaller men. Mayweather? Hopkins? DLH?
To compare Taylor to anyone Kessler has beaten is plain ignorance.

calm down son. no need for an outburst like that. Yes i have looked at his resume, it's full of shit performances against former welterweights and two "wins" against bernard hopkins.

Calzaghe's resume? against clowns, Old men and nobodies.
Hearns was a welterweight, Leonard was, so was Duran. All welterweights that killed it at middleweight.
I didn't mention anything about calzaghe.
