On October 18th at the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall, Bernard Hopkins returns to take on Kelly Pavlik. Hopkins still wants to fight on after Pavlik with the hopes of a rematch with Roy Jones Jr. Hopkins lost to Jones Jr. back in 1993.
Hopkins doesn't plan on his fight with Pavlik to be his last, recently telling Bernard Fernandez of the Philadelphia Daily News: "I think people still want to see me and Roy Jones Jr. before we both head off to the retirement home." Hopkins added that he thinks the Jones Jr. fight will be his grand exit.
Hopkins who feels he has gotten raw deals in his losses to Joe Calzaghe and Jermain Taylor, jokingly added to the publication that if his fights keep ending the way they have been: "You might see me around for the next 10 years."

Hopkins has been wanting a rematch for 15 years now. I can see some get caught up in the buffoonery of Roy Jones and belive the 60/40 hype. Some believe its Hopkins business deals that are the cause, which they couldnt be any more wrong.
The same unrealistic Hopkins who somehow can seal the deal with fighters like Felix Trinidad, Oscar De La Hoya, Jermain Taylor, Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright, Joe Calzaghe and Kelly Pavlik.
During the same time Roy Jones has been fighting the likes of Derrick Harmon, Julio Cesar Gonzalez, Glen Kelly, Clinton Woods, Prince Badi Ajamu, Anthony Hanshaw. Being knocked out cold by Glen Johnson. Also after being Knocked cold by Taver, and having no choice but to give him a rematch and lose.
I think its clear who wanted the fight and who didnt.
You dont know what your talking about...
If you were on boxing..talk.com in November, you would of seen a back and forth interview transcript going on between Bernard and Roy, in which Bernard showed interest in fighting Roy, talked how Roy is a legend, and they should do a 50/50 split.
Roy immediately came back and said he was very excited about a 50/50 deal, and thanked bernard for the kind words, and told Greg leon to have Bernard send over the contract and they can get started.
They sent the contract over and then Roy quickly called btalk.com and said... So this is what the contract says... after GoldenBoy takes 25%, THEN Roy and Bernard will split the rest...
Does that sound like a 50/50 deal to you? Especially when Bernard IS A PARTNER at GoldenBoy...?
Whose tryin to screw who? Who really wants the fight?

I'd watch it... I hope they both look GREAT.. not good but GREAt in their next fights so some nice hype and be built on this... maybe they both have 1 and then fight on the same night in a co-header......
It would tke some big names those and I don't know who would be modest/giving/humble enough to fight on the pre-Mainevent in the co-header....
there egos would NEVER allow the splitting of money or spotlight on the same card

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
But will they donate the proceeds to charity?
Nah. Tis boxing after all.
I also thought Jones/Trinidad seemed like a pre-season friendly. When Roy knocked Tito down he near enough apologised.
Even the Calzaghe fight is borderline. I reckon it could decend into an exhibition easily.
I doubt they'll ever fight. Somehow Bernard will ask for too much or some kind of excuse from one of their camps will come up. Bernard could test Jones chin but Roy's the better boxer at this point.
I'm not really interested in watching any Bernard fights anymore to be honest. They are just becoming boring spoil-fests. Its not his fault he is just getting old but I still don't think it is overly exciting to watch. I certainly won't be paying $50 to watch him lose another tightish decision to Pavlik. Also, I don't think he will fight Roy. This shit has been going on for years, its obviously not going to happen.
