Here is the Question I am asking anybody reading This:
What was the first thought or topic that Came in your head that you thought was the Consensus around boxing after the cotto/Margarito Fight?
What I notice right After The Cotto/Margarito Fight.
Was How People really started to unknowingly appreciate Mayweather skill,Class, and greatness even more.
For example, Even when Margarito is AT the Height OF HIS career with his win over cotto. People could not just let it be Margarito's Night.
The very first Question was Could he beat Floyd...?
And then the arguments began....
Think about that, Even at the Highest Point in Margarito's Career when he has basically become ruler of the WW division, he is still look at as number 2 in people's eyes compare to Floyd and so is every other boxer in Floyd's Generation.
You can not say who is the greatest Fighter in the past 25 years Without Mentioning Floyd and be taken seriously. Amazing right?
You guys what does that tell you from a naked perspective as a human being about the importance of Floyd....
I have said this before
It's like THIS,you got Floyd who has risen to the status of running the whole sport of boxing. He has been knocking out and beating all the previous fighters to challenge him. And Now he runs the sport. He is now been sitting fat, and making WAY TOO MUCH money, and really talking shit to anybody who would listen. He has set his aura of invincibility So High that People now want to see him beat at all cost and in effect they have given Floyd status that even some legendary fighters never gotten.
Floyd has become what he always wanted to be.
A Legend while still capable of being active and young
So that Makes you wonder Is MAYWEATHER'S Aura of invincibility too High...?
No and Yes
Floyd doesn't have the power and dynamic nature of Tyson and Jones
Floyd does subtle things which go unnoticed to offset his opponent
His defence and positioning are some of the greatest ever, he can fight from distance or in the pocket.
Guys with aura of Invincibility are normally KO artists, Liston, Foreman, Tyson etc
IMO Floyd is the hardest guy to beat in the sport but his aura of invincibility is not as high as some from the past, although it is the highest in the current day
Yeah, I thought about that but I dont know. I just think Floyd would pull something out of his ass and get the decision. Conterversal split, maybe?
Winky? I dont know about that either. Floyd doesn't take too many jabs. I can see Hearns or SRL jabbing the crap out of Floyd but not Winky.
I think the only person back then that would give Floyd problems is SRL.
Just by the fact that SRL could possibly beat PBF to the punch. Hearns is great too but I think PBF would avoid most of his power shots. Duran...... just.. no. SRR? I dont see it happening. Yes he is a great fighter and started the p4p rankings but no. I think PBF is just too smart for him.
Hearns would be a bad matchup for PBF. Trying to box and counter Hearns is hard, I dont think Hearns has ever been outboxed, he was taking SRL to school with the jab and SRL had to pull out all the stops and go to war with him. With Hearns reach, speed and jab that is going to be a major bitch for PBF to try to overcome. Hearns lost to guys in brawls and PBF doesnt have the power to brawl with him and wont be able to outbox him on the outside. Id pick hearns ud.
I also think Winky at 154 would have been a nightmare matchup as well. Trying to box him from the outside and not landing anything. Trying to get inside but Winky is bigger and stronger and can push him back out. Winky would score enough with the jab to win a ud.

I voted "yes and no", my take:
Currently, I dont see anyone at 135-147 beating him out of the guys today. I think the best guys who have a chance is probably Williams and Mosley. Williams just because he is so awkward with the huge size and workrate plus a solid chin so it would be interesting. Mosley would be good if he comes with the offense and pressure and combos he could win but if he takes it easy and tries to box I think PBF wins.
Pac and JMM are both great fighters but PBF I see having an easy time outboxing them. PBF outboxes Cotto as well. Margo he would run and counter all night, Margo wouldnt be able to find him.
PBF is good, damn good. He can fight on the inside, at midrange, at long rang. He can counter moving backwards ect. He can have an easy night on the outside moving around and countering but if force him to fight like Hatton he has the stamina and inside game to do it. His physical durability and strength is underestimated sometimes but he showed it in the Hatton fight, his conditioning is great, Hatton was tired but he was still fresh. No doubt at all in my mind that he could hang in there with the bigger 147 guys like Cotto and Margo.
So almost invincible in todays division... maybe, probably. But it doesnt take much to look around and see a ton of fighters who could beat him or have a good chance at it. Even going back just a few years with the likes of Whitaker, Tito, younger DLH, Mosley, Forest, Kostya at 140, would PBF have been undefeated in that division of the late 90s early 2000s? Hell no.
So it doesnt take much to look around and find some guys capable of beating PBF, just most of them arent fighting today. Going further back to Hearns, SRL, Duran, SRR, or up like Winky at 154 isnt even needed. If PBF was fighting probably 5-8 years earlier I dont think he would be undefeated.
Horus, I commend you for trying to better yourself and trying to come across as an intelligent person (which I'm not saying you're stupid btw). I say this because your grammar is pretty effed up most of the time but I commend you either way - it's a great thing you try to break the mold.
I'm done.
floyd does not have an aura of invicibility neither does any fighter, floyd has flaws and fighters that can beat him.... if u dont believe it then ur just ignorant

To answer your first question... I thought, "Margarito just destroyed a beast of a man."
Second... I think his Aura of invincibility is a little high from people who dont know the sport and think Mayweather will destroy/run through/kill any opponent.
The thing is, in my opinion, its hard to not acknowledge Mayweather's invincibility. The reason being is that his skills are very very good. Then you got a man who has so much talent. He can beat you with a KO or beat you by literally out boxing you. Its hard to think of anyone who can beat a man that doesn't care if he wins by decision.
I saw a post talking about Tyson. He is different because he always looked for a KO and that was ultimately his downfall. Where as Mayweather will fight you and if he can win by KO then he will go for it but if he realises that he cant finish you, he will UD you.
Mayweather is a naturally gifted fighter like RJJ but uses his brains to defeat you(which RJJ never did). Which is why when you think of who can beat him you automatically have to think... "Floyd would just take it to a decision."
Making his invincibility true. Just like Calzaghe.

That is because boxing fans were stll waiting for Floyd Mayweather to fight an elite fighter that was on top of his game. The biggest fighter Mayweather has fought was De La hoya. Fighting antonio Margarito would have been an intriguing match-up and would have proved what Mayweather was really made off. Except now he can beat Margarito and it wouldn't mean nearly as much as if he had fought him before his devastating lost to Shane Mosley.
He's "retired" but here's something written while he was active
This is pretty much the position Pretty Boy wanted to be in. To be universally accepted as the #1 pound for pound fighter of the world without even fighting. Yes he's had a stellar career and I don't demean his accomplishments what so ever, but to be truly recognized as the top p4p, he's gotta challenge himself to new heights as often as he can.
Sitting on your wins doesn't cut it and it doesn't guarantee you can't get ktfo in your next fight. He dares compare himself to Robinson and I bet some of you here are even foolish enough to accept it. He's created such a myth of invincibility that he doesn't need to fight for people to accept him as better than anyone he'll face. He's won before even siging a contract.
All he really has to do to sustain his status is to fuel the public's praise by putting on an excellent performance every couple of years and he's back on top for a couple more. Quite franlkly it's marketing ingenuity.
First question: If you think these threads are getting old...why did you read, vote, and respond..?
Second: What was the first thought or topic that Came in your head that you thought was the conses around boxing after the cotto/Margarito Fight?
The part in the RED means thats where you got :owned:
I'll say yeah...
Even though he would be a favorite against everyone, a lot of people act like he just can't lose... it's absurd.
Margarito would have a very good chance of winning against Mayweather.
Pacquiao's speed is also very good, and Mayweather isn't great against speed.
I pick Mayweather in both, but... neither would be easy at all.
This is a man who had a sig of Floyd with pig curls in his head and a Annie wig too. I never told you Baldy was the hottest thing in boxing liar lol. I posted the article. Why do I have to give YOU any reasons why Floyd didn't fight who you think he should've fought? lol, who are you? You are nothing but a fanatic. Fans here know what Floyd was doing. People have said worst here about Floyd than you. You got your account temporarily suspended because you kept following me lol.
It's not just him, it was everyone, less his nuthuggers who would defend his choice of fighting my grandmother.
The only problem I have with a lot of Floyd critics is that they bitch and moan about floyd not fighting so and so becaus he is a coward and businessman. and the same crowd doesn't give as much shit to margo for not fighting williams/clotey again. I like margo and liked his attitude of fighting whoever, but if he doesn't show a desire to fight williams in the near future, i'll lose a lot of respect for him, much like i lost respect for floyd.
Williams seems like the type of a champ we need. His willingness to fight Pavlik really impressed me. I hope he doesn't turn into this "no one knows him, doesn't bring in money, hasn't done enough" type of guys that floyd was and margo is turning into.
J Castillo is a much better Boxer than Margarito and he is quicker and he is better at cutting the ring down and Floyd utterly dominated him in the rematch he barely won one round
No it isn't. Love him or hate him he for the most part was a class above every fighter he has faced. He has only had problems with one fighter(Castillo) in one fight( Castillo/Mayweather 1) and then afterwards he beat him handly.
Who knows of Margarito can/could/would beat him. The fact remains is that he(Mayweather) has all the skills and ability to beat any fighter that is placed in front of him. He would be favored in such fight and that is why people hold him up in such high regard.
I think this also why is Aura of Invincibility is so high...
