Could Cotto even breath with the nose problem?

Just watched the fight again. Margarito just wanted the fight more than Cotto. Cotto showed a big hart and a better chin than I thought from watching the fight again but when he views the fight on screen, I know he will kick himself in the ass! He can and will beat Margarito in #2. Give it to Margarito though. He deserves to be called champion. He won #1 fair and square.

It wasn't like Cotto came in with a broken nose or breathing problems. It's like getting popped in the eye causing a cut and then saying oh! If he wouldn't of gotten cut he might of, could of won the fight. It happened during the fight so really it is all irrelevant now. If I remember correctly this is what the sport is all about trying to fuck each other up and that is exactly what happened to Cotto. No, Margarito did not escape unscathed but he did win the fight. Will Cotto be back? Of course he will and only time will tell if he will be better or as good as before. It's great if Cotto is your boy but before you go out and say that he will be back stronger than before let him get back in the ring. I wish him all the luck in the world, he truly deserves it as a warrior, husband, father and just plain good human being.

Your not paying attention. i've stated one than once that i accept the loss and that he won fair and square, but im saying, the busted nose was a FACTOR. not the cause.

IMDAZED youre a flippin dumbass - the broken nose was a factor and a pretty ****in big one my god no wonder the boards are going down the ****ter with fans like you posting their crap on them. it was a factor in cotto losing the fight, not the cause, theres a difference!!! anyway i think cotto showed real heart in that he kept on fightin even when his dumbass cornermen decided to put vaseline up his nose!! vasquez borke his nose as well in a fight with marquez and he clearly affected him - he even quit the match up and decided to go for a rematch. cotto on the other hand stayed strong until the last few rounds. so maybe th nose ws a big factor in cotto gassing at the end but there still remains that seed of doubt in my mind that cotto doesn't have great stamina which is strange because for a top 10 p4p fighter to have such an obvious and fatal flaw is very rare. imo the traing set up he has could be an obvious problem his trainer should have changed his routine after the last few fights so that cotto is focussing on more enudrance and stamina work. ________ LIST OF TOYOTA ENGINES

I noticed halfway through the fight Cotto's corner was having an issue stopping the bleeding from the nose. It had to effect Cotto's breathing. Could that be why he seemed to loose his endurance in the second half of the fight? He just couldn't breathe properly? cotto gasses all the time even without a busted nose. that's why cotto switches southpaw and runs when he has to.

This is why the REAL fans want a rematch. What would happened if Cotto's nose wasnt so busted up ? Same with the Marg-Williams. If Marg would have started "faster" Would he have won ? So I think both fights deserve a rematch.

This is not an excuse at all! The bad nose was due to a punch. It was Margaritos night. He beat him fair and square. I guess this question is for those on this site that have a boxing backround. You are the only ones that could answer this with any validity. Most of the time your cut-man can stop the bleeding with the tools they have but they just couldn't find an answer in that fight. no he couldn;t Thats was a huge factor In a Rematch and with a good trainer he will whoop margo. He has a good trainer. They could have done a better job stopping the bleeding though.

It's obvious the bleeding in the nose caused him a lot of problems but that wasn't just it. Margarito constantly pounding his body and landing his own fair of punches overall conspired against him. I also dunno why they jammed all that vaseline up the nose when I can't imagine it helping him breathe any better when it's thick and clumpy shit. It's like patching up a leaking boat so nothing can pass through again. But I mean, you don't want to take credit away from MArg, after all, he had to weather a hailstorm of brutal punches before he was able to get in his licks. I just think if Cotto hadn't had a busted nose, he would have been able to constinue his successful strategy abit longer to bank more than half the fight and survive long enough to reach the final bell, winning a very very close UD or maybe even SD.

What about the excuses Marg fans give that Margs started slow againest Williams? i aint giving no excuses at all. i'm just saying I feel if it wasnt for the nose problem, he pull off a close decision.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're unable to breathe you usually don't live very long after, let alone survive through 11 rounds of a brutal war. Amazing that Cotto is still alive. Let the excuses go please.

Why dont you guys stop making excuses for Cotto. I love the guy he is a bad ass boxer but it was tonys punches that caused all that. So lets just say that Tony broke his face and not try and discredit it. With the exception of one guy that did say he didnt want to discredit him. I think Tony is cottos unicorn. He will never be able to beat him. Just like sugar shane will never beat winky. Props to Cotto for lasting that freakin long with that busted up face.

he was able to breathe fine. when he went to the corner his trainer was telling him to take deep breaths with him and cotto was doing so through his nose. He lost his stamina because margarito was pounding him with non stop pressure. I also think cotto's face was hurting him really really bad. That was part of the problem too. Try getting your nose busted with a hard uppercut and the bleeding doesn't stop so your cutman puts vasoline and more medicine in there to try to stop it when it doesn't. Try fighting with a guy who puts constant pressure on you and you need to breathe so you can keep tyring to move out the way and counter and last the rounds and tell me he was able to breathe fine and that it wasnt a factor.
