When you consider that two guys in his division that were seen as below him in talent and skill handled Margarito with relative ease
I'm talking about Clottey playing the drums on Margarito's head for four rounds until injuring both hands. You could honestly look at it like this: Clottey hit Margarito's hard head so often he broke his hands from it.
I'm talking about Williams winning the first 6 rounds and slowing a bit late in the fight but winning a clear unanimous decision.
Yet Cotto can't control this one-dimensional, slow as shit, telegraphing every punch iron-chinned bastard?
Hate to say it, but this hurts Cotto a lot more than he may realize. I really thought he was winning the fight going into the 11th, but he was running whereas Clottey and Williams were willingly marching into Margarito's personal hell and winning.

Fuckin stupid
Yup, Just like Joe Louis was permanently shot after losing for the first time to Max Schmelling by KO... oh wait. nev mind..
you're supposed to read the posts before offering your own
but that's ok, tell me again how Cotto has the goods to beat Mayweather. that one always makes me :lol1:
did you give Margarito any of the first four rounds against Clottey?
Clottey tells his corner during the fight that his hands are hurt. did you notice the complete turn the fight took in round 5? you know, when Margarito wasn't taking 4 and 5 punch combos to the face
So Margarito was behind after four rounds. What else is new? He also hurt his hand in that fight, but wasn't whining for the TV cameras about it. Clottey felt the pressure of Margarito and that made his bruised hand somehow feel worse. Just like Cotto, Clottey shot his load and didn't discourage Margarito one bit. If he gets into a four round fight, maybe he'll be in trouble. Championship boxing matches are 12 rounds. I'm tired of hearing who was ahead half way through the fights.
..............
Cotto is too small to hold off marg for 12 rounds as was evident from last nights fight.........
when marg fought a big guy like himself.....santos......
marg lost twice.........
Your opinions are so biased and ridiculous they should be taken as comedy. Once again, Clottey didn't break his hands in the Margarito fight. Is there another language that would help get that through your thick head? Clottey lost, he didn't handle Margarito with ease. Wake up from your fantasy dream world.
clottey admited himself his hand wasn't broken, he said it was "bruised"
i'm not a fan but in fairness to clottey he is a tough fighter and he is
a hell of a lot better than miguel quitto!!

...that's an interesting perspective...with pitdogs (and roosters), there are dogs that are called "pit game", which means game enough for the pit, but not game enough for breeding...usually these dogs are high ability dogs that completely out class their opponents and never get pushed hard enough to get tested, but there's something about them that is questionable...it looks like Cotto was "pit game" and the wrong fighter met up with him...
Kabuki Joe
Let me tell you, he might be damaged from this he might not be. He's still a dangerous and talented fighter. If Cotto comes back mentally sound and unleashes what he did on Margarito, on anyone else, he knocks them the fuck out. If he comes back mentally sound, I feel sorry for his next opponent.

I get the feeling if Cotto broke his hand in the 4th round you wouldn't be using it as an excuse.
if Cotto could produce a broken hand that would explain a lot to me. unfortunately all he produced thus far was a bloodied face
he should have won this fight. that he didn't tells me he was never elite

What I am saying is that the way he lost to Margarito is going to hurt any chances he had of being considered great when you can point out two guys that handled Margarito pretty easily within the last year and a half
I guess I didn't make it clear. His status as an elite fighter is shot. He's not a shot fighter, at least we can't say that until he fights again. Sorry for the confusion

The whole Clottey thing has been beat to death. Tony was hurt comin into the fight. Williams and Tony basically split the 2 halves of the fight, wit Paul edgin him out closely but clearly. Cotto got beat but he gave Tony hell while he could. He's lost some of shine obviously, but I wouldn't say he's done until he fights again and looks weak.
