This should make for great discussion.
Floyd Mayweather p4p number 1 fighter in the world stops Ricky Hatton 43-0. To most ringside observers Hatton was making the fight close early on then Mayweather began to break him down and eventually stopped him in an impressive manner.
El Tornado De Tijuana began the fight behind. Cotto 32-0 was outboxing him the 1st 6 rounds easily. Then after round 6 Margarito was starting to come on and began breaking him down dishing out a beating. He then stopped him in an impressive manner.
Now....
Vote you decide.
if that fight was at 140, it would have ended even sooner, mayweather was faster, stronger and even less gun shy at that weight. There is a reason they turned it down back in 05.
I didnt say anything about it being closer at 140. Hatton loses almost every time at any weight. But now you mention it, I do think it would've been closer without Cortez and at 140lbs where Hatton is a different animal altogether.
Margarito's easily. He was the underdog and was getting outboxed but fought back and destroyed one of the best, if not the best welter.
Mayweather-Hatton was probably a closer fight for 6 or 7 rounds. Floyd was landing slightly more but not really doing an awful lot until the 8th round massacre. Hatton got stupid and frustrated, started running in and got nailed. He was also far too small for 147.

he wasnt supposed to win, only a few of us picked him and only because cotto is vunerable.
with mayweather, we knew in 2005 he would get his ass handed to him, however the fight was even more dominant for mayweather than we expected, mayweather showed us just how many demensions he has in his game, margarito was gettin stuck badly, but he kept coming foward, kept throwing punches, even though i feel hes limited, he made the best of his limitations by not giving up.

They're very close only because Hatton and Cotto were way overhyped. The difference is Floyd dominated Hatton the whole fight while Margarito certainly lost 5 of the first 6 if not all of the first 6
that's a bunch of bullshit margarito won at least 3 of the first 6 rounds. stop going by a couple of face shots that cotto was getting in the early rounds
Let me stop.. I wish I could take back my vote after some consideration. I think Margarito's was more impressive, though Mayweather's check hook was more entertaining of a finish. I misconscrewed the question..

Margaritos over Cotto. Cotto was a undefeated Top 5 P4P fighter. Marg was not top ten
Mayweather was P4P 1, and Hatton was lowish 10, and coming up in weight.
