i voted margarito win by decision and im surprised a lot said margarito by ko/tko. i mean he can knock him out but dont think he would because of big tough strong fighter williams is. i think the difference in the fight this time is that he would actually a good gameplan of attackin early this time unlike in the first fight and tire williams out to turn a close early fight and into a kind of easy unanimous decision in a good fight
Margarito on points. I think if he started a bit earlier he would have won, and i think he would start earlier in the rematch.
I don't think it was as much a case as Margarito staring slow as Williams starting fast. The number of punches Williams threw in the first round alone was off the charts. Williams gets little credit for that.
Williams didn't show up and looked sloppy in his first fight with Quintana.
If he has another off night, he'd be in trouble.
The rematch would be close if Williams remembers to use his skills and the natural benefit he has being a southpaw against a slugger that is perplexed by that stance sometimes would be to his advantage.
The reason I'd go for a Margs tko is because Margs would start the action earlier and get Williams backpedalling more where he could get caught with something later in the fight.
I'm not so sure. The thing is Williams was smart enough to tie up Margarito late in the fight. He knows what he has to do to stop Margarito's onslaught. Cotto just backed up into the ropes and took punishment.
Margo TKO.
Tony learned his lesson the first time round. Next time, he beats Williams.

It would be a good fight for sure. Margarito would probably start earlier and he would be beaming with confidence especially if this was his next fight, but I think Williams punch out would help him out. Since he is longer he would be able to keep Marge off of him like using his offense as his defense.
I could see Margarito getting hurt in this fight. Williams showed he has some power. I don't think he's shown us his best. But if Margarito tries to walk through Williams and while eating punches he might give a little. Not a KO but we could see him hurt. Williams is the bigger man. Slim frame yes but look at the broadness of his shoulders. This guy is just as much of a beast as Margarito.
I certainly can see Margarito winning, but I'm surprised at how many think by KO. Williams showed a world class chin in that fight, and nowhere in his history has he been close to being stopped.
Oh noes, here we go again, the Williams/Floyd nuthuggers rejoice. :kabong:
Why do you have to be a" nuthugger" just because you mention the prospect of a Williams/Margarito rematch? With that comment somebody might think you're hugging Margarito's nuts pretty tight.
Margarito will not make the same mistake twice, starts up faster puts even more pressure. His determination and relentlesnes would probably be more than what he showed with Cotto... Simply because it would be revenge.
Its not starting slow, its "this guy is way taller and faster than me and keeps hitting me in the face". Williams output slowed around the late rounds and margarito was able to get inside and hit him some, but he never hurt him. Margarito is still wack, he can just take a punch, Williams would beat that ass again and again.
I think Williams wins again. Remember he swept the first 7 rounds of the fight. And he showed he was the better and most importantly smarter fighter. They are equally as tough so that's a wash.
Tough call. Tony made it close by doin damage at the end, but he got outhustled like whoa for the 1st 6 rds. If he started fastere he'd do better, but part of why he wasn't gettin off early was cuz Paul wouldn't let him throw a lot. I call it a toss up.
115-113 was due to the hometown scoring. Most had it 116-112. I will agree that Paul took a few of the late rounds off to make it close, but he proved he had plenty in the tank by cearly winning the last round.
many said it close the first one and margarito said he learned from the experience so its a shaky decision i go for marg but it will be interesting to see a rematch
