My answer is no.
1. It is a easier fight than the Margarito/Cotto winner for De La Hoya
2. De La Hoya would make more money fighting Pacman than any one else
3. Pacman is the #1 Pound for Pound fighter now.
4. A Pacman/De La Hoya fight would be more competitive than a Cotto/ De La Hoya or Margarito/De La Hoya.
DLH doesn't deserve the Margarito/Cotto winner but the Cotto/Margarito winner deserve a huge payday with DLH. Will that happen If one of them looks to good the answer is NO.
I get what you are saying, bud.
This fight is nonsense. Some of the fights that are being put together right now are really irking the shit outta me right now. The GBP vets need to knock all this shit off already. These fights are not good for boxing.
I just don't see the point. I mean, from a financial boon to both fighters? Yeah.
I'd like to see Pac stay at 135. So many great match ups that could take place.
DLH? Dude, pick on somebody your own size. Like the winner of Cotto Margarito. Not that I think you even deserve THAT fight.

Not upset, just skeptical. Would people buy into this fight? Of course some would, since any fight wit these guys sells well. But other than $, no point to it.

I would be, it's a physical mismatch, DLH is way too big, Pacquiao should take care of business at or around his weight class not move up to 147 to fight a guy whose lowest weight has been 150 in the last 7 years.
And the OP's 4th point is wrong, a Cotto/Margarito-DLH fight would be much more competitive.
I won't, Oscars too old and didn't look pretty impressive against Forbes. Either guy wins doesn't matter to me imo. Its great match to look up to. Lets get it on.

Wow. That's a good description of Jim Lampley and I agree. Oscar had the most gutless retreat in a title fight I've ever seen against Trinidad, but those same people are still on his nuts. If Wright or Mayweather had done that it would be a different story.
I'll cosign that one
De la Hoya Could fight a featherweight champion and be hailed for it. There are very few that will go against a "peoples champ". Nuthuggers, commentators and journalists alike will try to devulge some sort of rationalization.
