First off the series is 2-2 Roy beat him when they was younger but look at this video and all of this was after the Ruiz in which ppl started to say he was goin downhill or shot...
no roy jones just got careless... hes a bad motuha fuckker...still..... he dropped all that weight and after sparring with heavyweights he thought no light heavy could touch him..
No way, I regret stepping in this, keep it up yourself. :p
This guy repeated 5 times that 50 fights vs 21 don't make a difference, because Jones was not dragged in any wars... clearly not worth arguing with
if u look back a few pages, i told him i was done debating with him as well...
illogical as hell
i step out, you step in...

Whoever wins on September 20th will be the most dominant fighter of our era.
no thats not true.......
u cant even compare what roy has done to what joe has done
regardless of who wins....
if they fought in 2002, you would be correct.
Now, all of a sudden, his 50 fights equal wear and tear on his body?
GTFOH, his fights weren't like those of Morales. Roy Jones was a safety first fighter who was always in great shape so wear and tear was never an issue.
Yes
training hard will slowly break you down
and fighters like Morales are shot by 30, not even by 35
So if Tarver just turned pro, that means Roy should have used his experience.
In fact he would have spanked him, if they thought back then...
Bottom line, Roy got his ass whipped. No excuses about weight, or prime. Three times they fought, at the same age. What that means is, Tarver was not in his physical prime either. Is there any reason why you can explain why people like you conveniently leave that fact out? Its not as if Roy had been through any wars at that point. In fact, most people claim he rarely, if ever lost rounds.
OMG... you don't have to go through wars to be worn out by years of hard training... I guess running 5+miles everyday for 20 years doesnt do anything to your knees right (Roy was already complaining about his knees in 2000)? hitting the bag doesnt do anything to your hands and joints.
But this doesnt even matter. It's a matter of style. Pick all the other fighters who relied as heavily on reflexes, speed and movement and tell me how they were doing at 35. Please do so... I guess Terry Norris and Macho Camacho are Ray Leonard's daddies, Tito owns Pea, Joey ARcher is better than Robinson and so on
There is no excuse anyone can make regarding Jones/Tarver results.
No excuses, plenty of facts bad style to have at 35, past his prime, lost a ton of muscle... The fact that you don't want to see them, doesn't make them excuses.
Weight drained but Roy won the first fight.
Knocked out and all of a sudden hes past his prime against on opponent who is the exact same age.
It is going to be hard to see through the clouds of your bias, but there is a reason why fighters very rarely move down in weight.
Did I say its solely about age?
I covered that in the Vargas Hops comparison.
Certain fighters can last longer because of their style.
Physical prime is not relegated to how many fights or types of fights a person goes through. Reflexes are going to slow down whether you're a boxer or a brawler.
your license is hereby revoked :smashfrea
So it is all about age and not number of fights?
How do you explain Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Fernando Vargas fading out of boxing so early in their lives then?
Man, I like Tarver, but seriously, that was not the same Roy Jones who fucked Vinny Paz up in there against Tarver, in ANY of the three fights.
well so Barrera lost to Manny Pacquia is that because he is shot and Morales is shot so Manny should be higher.
When Barrera fought Manny nobody expected Manny to KO same thing with Roy Jones vs Tarver.
anyway it no use to something that is already been done Roy Jones got KOed full stop you cant change that and say prime jone or prime tarver or prime time.
when was prime Jones when he beaten Ruiz as HW or when he beaten James Toney or Hopkins....etc but once he lost he not in his prime.
He won against good contenders after the Johson fight unlike Morales who struggle with Zahir Rahman.
im not talking about rep power
im talking about reputation as a poster on this forum amongst the other posters.... son.
i told you, im done debating you... you mustve forgot.
Its the internet, I don't concern myself with strangers thoughts of me whether I'm online or off.
he should really stop... BUT HE CAAAANT
God Roy was so much better when he rapped about boxing, and not shit like fucking people up with guns, and smoking and drinking, none of which he has ever done.
I'm sure one of the greatest athletes ever was a heavy smoker and drinker...
And the family man Roy Jones Jr. got on his bulletproof vest and sprayed people quite frequently.
Uh huh. :tragedy:
Okay...
So you think that the Roy Jones who beat James Toney loses to any version of Antonio Tarver?
Agree to disagree I guess.
I SMOKE I DRANK
Seeing as how Tarver never fought at supermiddle, I'd say it doesn't really matter.
The point is, people are still in denial about their superman being crushed by a milk dud and will go to any lengths, as seen in this thread and the video to make it seem otherwise.
Okay...

Thats fine and all, but I never once said Tarver was a better fighter, only that in a head to head matchup, Tarver pretty much owns Roy.
I have no problem saying Jones is the better fighter. He is, except when he is fighting Antonio Tarver. Jones will easily go down as the better fighter with better accomplishments, but not once have I said otherwise. I'm strictly talking about the garbage excuses and how they hold no weight.

As I stated previously. Rep is for bums.
Now would you like to discuss this matter of Jones excuses further and be even more exposed, or would you like to detract from what we are actually discussing and talk about rep power because honestly, it doesn't mean a thing to me.

rep is short for reputation there professor

And Joey Archer beat Ray Robinson no matter how you slice it.
Sometimes a match (or three in this case) doesn't automatically determine who is the better fight career-wise.
Thats fine and all, but I never once said Tarver was a better fighter, only that in a head to head matchup, Tarver pretty much owns Roy.
