After tonight's performance, does Wlad's stock go up, or down in your book?
Personally I was impressed...
Tony was tough-tough fighter who matched Wlad in size, speed.. good guard, iron chin and was not afraid to let it go...
It tonights performance Wlad answered the Stamina questions for me...
He fought a high pace 11.5 rounds.. took some monstrous body shots and looked like he was getting winded in the 3rd... but he pressed on and on and actually looked pretty fresh towards the end.
He also showed that he can take a punch on the chin
Most importantly, he did not panic when he was hit.. and was able to hit back.
We all know styles make fight and Thompson was a difficult guy to fight and a legit contender.
As for Wlad, we are looking at a new bread of a World HW Champ! :firstplace:
Well its far from my favorite, but I starterd watching Wlad when he was still a kid and back then he dropped everyone in 3 rds KO after KO.
The Wlad that would even have the haters go "daammnnn" was the pre Stewart Wlad. He was fearless, went in to kill and simply rocked his opposition. Too bad he is so disciplined that he will never try to be his old self.
He's on the road to greatness. By the time his career is over he will be a top 10 ATG HW.
though Wlad and Tony where slugging during several parts of the fight. I really liked the fight, now it's one of my favorite Wlad fights.

It's just that the more I look into what people post about the heavyweight division the more it hits me "its just a bunch of kids whose perception of boxing is the 20 fights they saw on tape of Ali, Tyson and Marciano".
Its simply people who are looking for entertainment and their idea of the heavyweight division is a bunch of highligh reels accumulated over 60 years of boxing and put into a 10min youtube video.
The division is going to stay the same, blame the fall of the Iron Curtain. Now it wont mater, to win fights you will have to throw jabs and right hands, there will be no more drama, fighters are strong, they dont get drunk before a fight, they dont have rent to make or have girl trouble, they dont have some civil rights movement to be a part of like the fighters of the past which we love so much today. No more ragging bull stories. Its a production line now, professional fighters who are stronger then ever, taller then ever and who are there simply to win.
If you are waiting for the day when two 6 foot 5 250lb guys will start to slug it out like Manny Pac then stop dreaming.
Any charismatic fighter (David Haye) who will try to get fancy and start dancing around the ring like Ali or starts bobing weaving like Tyson will always get knocked the fuck out by a borring fighter like Klitschko. Thats simply the reality, the rules of the game changed. Live with it.

Poor effort by Wlad IMO.
:slap:
He kicked Tonys ass, open your fucking eyes. :slap:

I don't even know how to explain all this hate.
So I come home watch the fight, what do I see? Two big guys actually fucking trading some punches for once. I see Wlad taking some shots and not getting his panties in a bunch, I see Thompson take some big rights and never dropping...I see two men actually fight with one eventualy doing a good acting job of giving up.
Now WTF did you guys want?
When Wlad knocked out Ray Austin in the 2nd people hate. Dominates Brewster people still hate. He fights a cunt in Ibragimov people hate (so do I though).
How many heavyweight eras have you fellas lived through? Because to be honest I dont know wtf you all are looking for. You want Mike Tyson knocking out fucking tomato cans in 2rds? Or do you want Ali vs Foreman every night?
Have you guys even seen more then 10 Ali fights?
My recomendation, you hate the man so much, stop watching him. Stop commenting on him, yea we all know its a week division bla bla blah...
The division is going to stay like this for the next 50 years. It will be big man with Wlads style who will win fights, because it wins fights.
Good post, these crybabys dont know shit about HW Boxing.
For fucks sake, just look at Thompson!

He is the most boring heavyweight titlist I can ever remember. I can't imagine non-boxing fans sticking around for the KO.John Ruiz has him beat by a long shot.
He won, he got the KO, his stock raises ever so slightly.
It's not the most exciting thing in the world but he gets the job done. Viewers wouldn't turn into boxing fans after watching Wlad in a fight like that, but hell, he's still the champion.
His stock went up. At first the fight was VERY uncomfortable but he managed to find a way and ended up knocking a VERY durable fighter who knew how he was coming in with their sparring experience. I don't understand why some have to hate so much on Wlad, he's done a very good job and well, he kos people. Isn't that what some people want to see??
As someone who's followed Wlad for a very long time, this is quite a hard question. Overall Wlad did a good job I think, Thompson is a big, tough genuine heavyweight who would have a very good chance against any of the other Title holder. Wlad was never in any danger of losing the fight, he was never hurt, had a huge points lead and eventually got the big KO.
HOWEVER, I feel that Emmanuel Steward is making Wlad into a WORSE fighter! I understand that Wlad took a hammering against Sanders therefore some adjustments were needed, but all this clinching and holding that Steward is making him do is counter-productive. Pre-Sanders Wlad would have had Thompson out in less than 6 rounds because he would have kept pressure on and tried to keep landing hard shots instead of tying up all the time. Wlads patience is great for winning fight by easy decision or late TKO in boring fashion, but it's not exciting anymore. We need a heavyweight destroyer, somone who can detonate. Wlad USED to be that guy but Steward is no good for Wlad in my opinion.
So to summarise this performance was a + from his last performance, but a - from his potential and Pre-Sanders performances. I think Vitali should train Wlad and teach him how to go for the kill...
hey fuckhead how about YOU do us all a favor and get your wlad loving ass out of here....
its fine to support a fighter (ie: how i support kostya tszyu) but to blindly deny any criticisms of that fighter as you and several other wlad cock lovers such as tunney do is ridiculous...im not new to this forum, i have other accounts and i know that you are a blind wlad lover who just cant accept any flaws wlad has......your not the only one who has a fuckin opinion dickhead:grr:
Who's alt are you??....Reveal yourself you coward
my main issue is this abandoning his great jab for this pawing/measuring/stuff! he would have been done in 6 if he worked the jab. i know, a tricky/southpaw, but he could have used it way more.
thats what i heard happened a lot of tenative jab crap on the part of Klit
The more I watch this guy, the more I'm convinced he wouldn't be a contender in any other era. The division is just so bad right now that all you need to succeed is height, reach and a great deal of holding when the other guy gets too close.
I just don't like watching Wladimir fight...I just finished watching him beat Thompson, he's so plodding and boring to me I just can't stand it. Mostly I feel he is bad for boxing. I am being completely honest when I say that I was sleepy by round 7. The way he fell all over Thompson, slumped and tossed him into the ropes, just so uncoordinated it was embarrassing. The way he answered questions at the end was the best part of the fight.
Wlad seems like a great guy, he has a good personality, I don't know, I just feel like he should be behind a desk somewhere and not in the ring.
His stock hasn't changed with me, but it has gone up of course in all other aspects.
+1:stupid:
Haters are just plain funny!
Wlad was the most illusive I've seen him fight...
Before he was criticized for jab jab jab jab jab ... and putting people to sleep with it...
Today he abandons his signature racket and he gets criticized "he should have used his jab more"
WTF?
you people are just plain hypocrites
My advice to Wlad is to unify the titles before a heavyweight that is actually good shows up in the division. Then he can at least claim to have been the heavyweight champ for a little while.
Hmm Wlad, why don't you listen to Fugo and fight the other titleholders??
oh - wait! They don't want to fight you.. Ibragimov was the only brave to step up who said there should only be ONE champion and put his belt on the line...
Good one :rotfl:
No matter what he does, nothing will change your opinion of him.. As a matter of fact, the better he does, the more hate you will impose. Naturally it makes you angry.
