I can't complain about his work last night.

I noticed he didnt say it as well, and I laughed. Cortez didnt even do anything tonight. He seemed determined to not ruin anything after all the questionable shit he has done lately. Im not saying he should have done much in this fight, but Wlad did some rough holding, and some measuring that seriously seemed to last for like 8 seconds at a time and Tony landed lots of low punches and didnt make a peep. Im all for letting them fight, but how about being consistent from fight to fight?

There's a difference between warning a fighter for excessive clinching and interrupting the flow of a fight b/c you want to state your authority. Cortez did the same interrupting during the Hopkins Calzaghe fight...... Did he interrupt the flow during Castillo - Hatton fight??? No it was fine. When it was necessary for him to step in, he did and it was for the Mayweather fight.......period.

I agree, a ref should be invisible but if a guy can't throw a decent punch without holding on to something first then the ref steps in and enforces the rule. Same thing happened to John Ruiz Vs Roy Jones. You can argue that Floyd was holding too and he did but Floyd isn't notorious for that like Ricky is. He has more skills and doesn't need to do that as much as Ricky does.
