as a boxing fan, out of these 2 divisions which do u find more exciting right now?... its a toss up for me, so many great possible fights...
135 is the best and deepest right now.
i would say at the moment lightweight, it seems to be more open and have less onesided fights..with the welterweight division cotto, margarito and williams are the top 3 and i can't see any of the fighters below catching them for the time being
Lightweight currently has the better fighters. Guzman, Pacquaio, Marquez, Casmayor, Soto, Diaz, Kadsitas, Kahn, Valero, Cambell ect. There is no comparison. Welterweight is good but they only have Cotto, Mosley, Berto and Margarito there. Lightweight has much more young talent.
:fing02: Definitely. They're also actually all fighting each other which is quite rare these days. Best division, as ever, in boxing!
Even with Mayweather in welterweight I would still say, especially with Pac, Guzman, JMM and Valero moving up, it is easily the most talented division as well as the deepest.
The other great thing about lightweight is the series of, not only great match ups, but the different types of fighters being matched up. You have big punching, exciting brawlers like Katsidis along with slick southpaws like Casa. Crazy aggressive guys like Pacquiao and technical counter punchers in JMM. Hard, crafty veterans like Campbell with fast, non stop pressure fighters like Diaz. Great prospects like Khan. The list goes on!
things are happening in LW ... jmm-casa, nate-guzman & kat-diaz and still many more crazy a$$ fights after that
welter minus floyd and a "cotto victory over marg" ... will amost settle everything at W...
:lol1: yeah, minus floyd... plus Cotto's loss! Welterweight will not be exciting anymore!

147 is a good division but without Floyd it loses some luster. 135 is a much deeper division overall now with all the guys comming up from 130 to chase Pacquiao.
With Floyd, Welterweight. Without him, lightweight.
I was just about to say the same thing. Welterweight has an edge in quality. Lightweight has the edge in depth.
yes it is.
when i was typing it you haven't posted yours yet so i didn't see it.
thankfully , there's no punishment for duplicitous posts......
haha, there should be! nah, i thought you were responding to me. now i c......
Even if Mayweather was there, those big fights wouldn't be made unless he was to fight the best and he was matching himself carefully before he retired. Lightweight would still be the better division IMO.
isn't that the same list i have? i said not in any order....
but, if you wanna do it in order i like this:
Manny
JMM/Casa (too close to tell- lets find out in sept)
Guzman (sorry nate, i love ya bro)
nate
katsidis
diaz
valero
amir kahn
i can't make an educated guess on valero or kan. maybe they belong higher. only time will tell..
