I don't think it's a stretch for a world champion fighter to have three, maybe even four fights in a year. Fighting two times a year is not enough IMO.
minimum 3, ideally 4. 5 if they have big cojones!!!! for instance. Manny should be able to fight right away after being completely untouched against Diaz. Same for Pavlik. Can't hate on these guys though because by the typical standards they are very active Champions.
I know some want a champ to fight once a day to prove the haters that the champ don't duck anyone. Fighting everyone from pro debut to bums to untested champs to old past prime champs up to heavyweight from flyweight :boxing:
minimum 3 times IMO. I would understand if they don't want to take punishment especially at the hw division level so even 4 fights might be too much but they should fight alteast 3. any less is just ridiculous for a main representative of the sport.
IMO 3 times a year. They should fight the number 1 contender in there chosen division, then they can fight someone who moves up or down into there division for a big money fight, then fight the new number one contender, thats how it should be
minimum twice.
once to defend his belt against the #1 guy in his weight class.
the other to whoever he wishes. someone in another weight class or a big money fight or even a tuneup just to stay in shape.
as long as he fights the #1 (or #2 or #3 if he has already beaten #1 recently) in his division once a year.
