I think Cotto is the better fighter, with the better skills and much better resume. But if styles make fights, and cotto for whatever ungodly reason cant move out of the way of a right hand, if he cant make margarito respect his power, margarito is going to likely stop cotto, and i say this not because cotto has no chin, and not because margarito has all this great punching power, its because i am really questioning cottos ability to give it all for 12 rounds. That mosley fight made me wonder, alot of it has to do with how economical cotto got in the last 3 rounds, i mean, this is why they fight the fights, because in reality i think this might be a nightmare matchup for cotto IF margarito doesnt respect his power, because cotto wont be the bigger guy this time and hes in there with someone who isnt just going to fold under his aggression. Williams was his size and threw punches right down the pipe in successesion, (sp), repeatededly landing on margaritos face and it wasnt until williams slowed down a little but that margarito started landing some real good shots, also, williams and margarito are about the same size, and williams kept his punches straight and quick with good volume, cotto is too small to use that plan, and whenever cotto lets loose with his left, he gets nailed by right hands. Against shitty opposition like Shotgun Gomez, Andrew Lewis, and underachievers like Cintron Margarito was able to move in and force a fight. i think that's the key for margarito's W

I think this fight really comes down to boxing superiority. Gomez was not a A fighter, but Cotto appeared to have trained and prepared for this fight like it was the fight of his life, even though it wasnt. The result was a complete boxing lesson and domination. I think this fight will just come down to how much Cotto is improving with each fight, I believe you will see a Cotto box at least twice as he did against Gomez.

cotto's main problems are getting hit with the right hand and gassing. the problem is that margarito is too damn slow to exploit it. if margarito had 1-punch KO power I'd say cotto is in trouble but he doesn't. we know cotto can take a punch at 147. we know that cotto can box and even run when he needs to. that means cotto ud margarito. he can run but he cant hide, cotto's boxing is not good enough to run away for 12 rds, backing-up and punching like mayweather, im sorry cotto is a dead man

Throwing a barrage of punches only works against someone who is a stationary fighter, which Cotto isn't. Margarito's proven that he has trouble against fighters who constantly are on the move because he doesn't have any leverage to put any real power behind his punches. Cotto on the other hand can throw short hooks and straight rights with more accuracy and speed that'll throw Margarito off his game. IMHO, Cotto's skills will prove Margarito is a sub par WW. Losing to Cotto makes him a sub par welterweight? Wow, that means there is actually nobody in the top ten in the ranking who would be considered par or above par. Give the man his credit, he beat the crap out of Cintron twice, and he may not be the best at welter, or he might, but he is surely at the top.

I've said this before, Cotto did not have enough left in the tank in the last three rouds to win the fight as soundly as he should have but Mosley didn't have enough to exploit it, but Margarito will. See thats the thing, you are comparing clottey/cintron fights to this one, if you read my initial post, i dont list margarito as being very good at all, its just his style that presents a matchup problem for cotto, because if margarito comes out guns blazing and cotto doesnt make him respect his power, cotto is in for the fight of his life, and lord help him if he loses stamina in the later rounds. None of the people who agree with me (save a few) think that margarito is some crazy world beater, its not that, its his style of 12 rounds of throwing punches all the fucking time. He throws wild, inefective punches that can be easily countered as proven by Clottey. If you stand in front of him like Cintron did, then he will hurt you. Miguel will move and counter him, his power will get to Margarito. And he'll slow him down and make him think twice before throwing. Cotto's focus and conditioning for this fight are unlike anything you've seen before. He knows what's at stake and he's not going to let anyone stand in his way.

I saw Margarito throw hundreds of inefective punches that couldn't ko a man who for all intents and purpose had given up. Even as discouraged as Clottey he was he was still to hit Margarito at will in the 12 round. Just because he destroyed Cintron a man who's will wilted and just stood there and took a beating. Doesn't make Marg this unstopable force of nature. What I see in Marg is a big strong welterweight with a good chin, decent power and good stamina, who lacks the proper boxing skills and defense to beat a world class fighter like Miguel Cotto. if clottey can counterpunch margarito effectively with the peekaboo defense so can cotto. that is not cottos style and it would be fairly amazing if cotto sat in a shell, used movement and didint allow margarito to get to him, because thats something we have never seen from cotto, clottey and cottos defense and offense arent similar.
