I heard about slapsy Maxie, haven't seen any footage on him, but he's in the HOF, right?
Yes he is. He had 221 wins with only 19 KO's. Doesn't take too much insight to figure out how he got the name "Slapsie Maxie". I'll now wait for the inevitable Joe Calzaghe jokes...
Maxie Rosenbloom, who didn't even hit as hard as Pep, 2,763 rounds. Harry Greb, 2,591 rounds, and he died young!

Willie Pep, not having the luxury of Robinson's spectacular offense, 1956 rounds.

I respectfully disagree and think it should be based on wins. The example you showed does show 100% KO's, in his wins. A boxer doesn't punch any less hard because he has more losses. It's when a fighter's wins are mostly by KO that you know he can really hit (or has been matched softly).
Maybe so. I just feel that if you can't KO 10 oppenents who all beat you, that should affect your ratio as it is someone you havn't KOd.
Of course, my opinion and i respect that others may disagree.
I think it should be you overall fights. Because;
The percentage is meant to represent what percentage of people w fighter has KOd. If a guy loses a fight, it means he hasn't KOd him.
EG-If someone was 13-27 13KO, I don't feel they should have a 100% KO ratio.
Of course, just my opinion.

I noticed this too. Just look at Sugar Ray Robbinson's record for an example. He boxed 1403 rounds....!!!!!!!

Boxrec messed up the KO%. They divided the number KOs to the number of total fights instead of number wins.
Great post!!!
BTW, this thread had nothing to do with Wlad / Lennox like I said, it was just an observation...
and I think KO should be calculated by your wins and not your overall fights..

Vitali held his own. Wlad is a better boxer than his big brother.
Difference being Wlad fought 9 more fights and worse overall opposition (which is why his KO percentage is 10+% higher.)
Though at Wlad's age, Lewis hadn't faced Briggs, Holyfield X 2, Grant, Tua, Rahman X 2, Tyson or Vitali. Hadn't accomplished any more than winning the WBC belt, losing it and regaining it.
Wlad has a better, more accomplished career than Lennox Lewis had at the same age, so I think comparisons right now of whole careers is kinda stupid.
Assuming Wlad fights 5 1/2 more years like Lennox did, he might go down as a top 10 ATG HW like Lennox has. You never know.

They now list total rounds boxed and a KO%
Just as an observation.. Wlad and Lennox both fought for 225 rounds :mybeer:
I predict that Wlad will pass Lewis on Saturday. Assuming Thompson gets out of the first round of course.
