Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton

pac's about a welterweight on fight night but hatton is damn near a middleweight.

this fight would be lopsided manny would destroy hatton even tho hatton fans are delusional and will still show up thinkin he stands a chance

Well, every fighter reaches a limit for his size. We do not think that Pavlik can beat Haye. Although Ghost is the better p4p fighter. At a certain point, Pac reaches a limitation for his size. And since we don't think he can beat ANY of the current crop of top welters, his size limitation is somewhere between LW and WW. So a hatton fight may test those limits. How would a Pac-Berto fight look? Pac-Cotto? Pac-margarito? pac-Mosley? So, yeah, he is "maxing out" pretty soon. Similarly, Flloyd can't fuck with most of the MW's. Of course. My post did raise the question of Pacs size vs Hatton's. It would be a risk for Pacman definitely, but he doesn't look to me like he's going to be too small at LW, so I'm prepared to believe he could go another 5 pounds. 147 would absolutely be too much though.

I know right. Pacquiao has weighed about 140 on fight night since about 2001 or so and people keep trying to act like he's this little guy. He weighed 150 lbs four weeks before this fight. He's really been a Jr. Welterweight who's been fighting in the 122-130 division since before the first Barrera fight. every fighter does that, Marquez came to his fight with Pacquiao at 141, Diaz still weighed more than Pacquiao. In the first fight with Morales Pacquiao was noticably the smaller fighter, even Morales said he felt big in the ring with him. Pacquiao's legs make up a lot of his weight, his calves are bigger than an average middle weight, but his upper body alone isn't to big. I think Hatton's chin will be fine at 130, espicially against a guy like Pac, who will by using movement, flurries and elusive tactics against Hatton, as opposed to sitting on his punches. It wouldn't happen at 130, it would happen at 140.

well, seeing as the Diaz match would give a good indication of how Pacquiao would do vs a come forward/brawling style of fighter..whats everyone's take on Pacquiao vs Hatton now? Hatton is a bit bigger than Diaz, he's quicker...but his Chin isn't to great and he really doesn't know how to block. I should also say he's faster on his feet than Diaz to. However, seeing as Pacquiao completely obliterated Diaz I think there is a really good chance of Pacquiao beating Hatton or even KOing him. Tough for me to call this until I see them in the ring. On talent, it is a no-contest, Pacqiao is a genuine elite of the elite boxer. He's faster than Hatton, better movement etc. Stylistically though, this fight would wind up being a straight up brawl, and in those circumstances you have to wonder whether a little guy like Pacquiao could come out on top over a guy who has stood and brawled with big guys like Collazo and Urango, taking their shots. However, in most scenarios in boxing, class does tell so I think I would lean towards a Pacquiao victory.

There is also a chance that Hatton's roughhousing tactics and hard body punches could slow Pacman down. ----------- Hatton took Tszyu's shots, but he couldn't take Floyd's or even to some extent Collazo's. Pacquiao was stunned a few times by Marquez and Morales. So, I think Hatton-Pacquiao really would be a drag em out brawl where both guys hit the canvass. Logic kind of tells me that Pacquiao's speed would eventually win out, but it wouldn't surprise me if Hatton were to grab, maul and hit his way to a victory.

It sounds as if you are saying that Hatton is an overall better fighter than Diaz. If that's the case, then you prolly shouldn't use last night as a barometer. Remember that people said that hatton was a bigger/quicker/stronger version of Castillo. And since castillo troubled Floyd, then.... The point is that you have to evaluate these fights on an individual basis. Hatton will outweight pac by about 6-8 pounds. We don't know how Manny will deal with that. sort of, I don't think Hatton's chin is as tough as Diaz' though. Hatton will be bigger than Pacquiao, but once Pacquiao fills into he light weight division more it might not even be that big of a deal.

2009 will decide this fate.
