Use this thread to discuss the greatest freaks of nature to step in the ring (not sideshows, but those who had success due to it).
My votes go to Carlos Monzon (drank constantly, would have sex the night before fights, would smoke on the way to fights) without ever looking anything other than in peak condition, and James Toney (for obvious weight-related reasons).
i read in an article that Hatton lossess 200lb in a year by gaining and lossing his weight
I think we've finally seen it take its toll too; it's hard to blame his decline on age. He is the contemporary Riddick Bowe in this department.
Do we want to mention Jess Willard? He became the legitimate heavyweight champion by beating a titan in Jack Johnson, but I have no idea what sort of skills he displayed. The image he is always painted with is that of a beast in size who was just too large for everyone. But the visual image that everyone has of him is Dempsey delivering "the most murderous beating a man ever took in the ring", to quote the commentator.
Perhaps, although simply aging can be the impetus behind this over a long period. You'd be hard-pressed to find a fighter who, after a decade at one weight (and starting extremely young at that) doesn't have more trouble making weight. However, I seem to recall that (according to boxrec) a lot of Duran's fights in the late 70s were fought above the 135 lb limit (catchweights perhaps?).
True and yes, apart from his title defenses at 135, a lot of his other fights at that time period were over the weight fights.
Nicolai Valuev.
y'all know why
Valuev is more like Primo Carnera. Not that his freakishness isn't the driving force behind what success he has had, but he isn't on the skill level of the fighters I intended to be mentioned.
He did say it was getting a bit hard to make 135 when he moved up, so I think he was ballooning up then as well.

Would Hatton deserve a mention?
Between fights he eats loads and goes on all night benders and can weigh about 180pounds. And then he goes all the way back down to 140 again and looks good. That's crazy.

Given his personality I'm somewhat surprised he didn't do this during his decade-long run at lightweight. Or perhaps he did to a degree, and it just isn't mentioned.

Duran used to ballon up sometimes to 200 pounds in between fights that were contested at 147 or 154 and it never affected his stamina too much.

^^yeah i dont know how the hell he does that man. Chavez to i remember hearing stories of him drinking all night banging girls and then just knocking fighters out
I'm a bit hesitant to label lean, lanky fighters as freaks per se (I don't believe the body type is that extremely uncommon in the general population), but if we're going that direction then Arguello has to be mentioned. 5'10, 72'' reach featherweight.

^^word on williams but he looks like a stick. Hearns actually looked a lil ripped..Marciano was also a freak not being a true heavyweight and knocking big heavys out
