Do they really expect people to pay money to see two counterpunchers sit back and wait on each other for 12 rounds? A lot of people forget how boring Marquez can be when he's not in with an aggressive fighter like Barrera or Pacquiao. Ever watched Marquez vs. Gainer? This won't be that bad, but both of these guys can stink out the joint when matched with boxers. It's a big important fight, but don't get fooled into thinking you'll see a great fight.
how can u judge someone for ONE fucking fight??? Mayweather-Baldomir had people leaving the damn arena before the fight was over and look at what he did to Hatton.... shut the fuck up already :bottle:
The crowd was leaving because it was a one-sided fight and Baldomir had no idea how to turn the fight around.
Marquez-Gainer was just a stinker in which neither landed a meaningful blow.
you actually believe that it was because of pacquiao alone the fight sold 400K?
What is your qualification as a boxing expert? You watch it on TV?
You don't understand finances in boxing so don't pretend that you know what you're talking about.
Marquez isn't strong enough to deal with Casamayor. Marquez doesn't deal with boxers very well, he needs a bull like Pacquiao to look good. Casamayor and his Olympic medals is a better boxer than Marquez.
But yeah this could be a real stinker.
Casamayor-vs-Marquez is an interesting fight but I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it:nonono: It should be on HBO WCB. You never know with Casamayor fights. It could be exciting or awfully boring. I think Marquez will make him fight so it'll be somewhat entertaining.
who cares about the excitement level? casual fans won't like the fight but true boxing fans will love it. the Forrest-Mosely fights were great to watch for me and both guys are great counter punchers. I enjoy a fight especially if I know what I'm getting. if I watch a gatti fight and see a careful and technical fight, I will be disappointed. but this fight, I know what I'm getting so I will be satisfied.
i'm buying. its an impossibility for JMM to be in a bad fight. imfukkenpossibility. win or lose, that warrior goes balls out.
over and out.
guess you weren't around when Marquez fought Gainer. it's a candidate for the worst fight of all time. seriously.
It's difficult to tell cuz Marquez style has been more fan-friendly. But Casamayor still has the same style!!!
If Marquez pushes the fight, Casa will bang with him. He just has to make him fight like Corrales did.
This fight might be about 4 years too late, but it remains an interesting match on paper. I hope Casa can turn back the clock one last time. I know Marquez has enough left in the tank.
In regards to it being a PPV, I agree. This is an awful PPV. And we have Golden Boy to thank for that.
I don't mind a strategic battle like Mayweather-De La Hoya as long as there's a history there. I had been waiting to see Floyd take on Oscar since Floyd called him out in 2003 so nothing could ruin that night for me.
Marquez-Casamayor is just gonna be flat out boring. Of course, both guys really need to win to get the big fight with Pacquiao so that should make them push more than they usually do.
Marquez does try to make fights exciting, but he's the one moving up in weight here so I think he'll be more cautious than we've seen him the last 2 years. Casamayor showed he can clip you out of nowhere as he did to Katsidis over and over.
Casamayor vs Katsidis = Very exciting
Marquez vs Pacquiao = Very exciting
Casamayor vs Marquez = Who knows?
Katsidis and Pacquiao are two of the most, if not the two most, exciting fighters in the world today. They could make any fight exciting. Plus matadors look their best when you throw them in with a bull. Look at Mayweather-Hatton for another example.
I think it will be ok, Casmayor much more hittable now so JMM should be able to get off a bit. If JMM sits back and just waits it will be a boring fight, a fight that Casamayor would probably win. I could easily see JMM outworking him for a win over 12 rounds.
Is it worth a PPV though hell no. I hope it doesn' cost the full price maybe $45 with a stacked card.
do you honestly think JMM will go into this fight thinking he can afford to have a boring match? think about what he's had to do JUST to get the second fight with Pacquiao. both nacho and JMM have publicly stated that he has become more offensive minded because they understand their previous game plan wasn't getting them anywhere.
of course this fight isn't going to be FOTY, but Marquez has come to far to put out a dull fight while he has SOME spotlight on him. he wants to leave Pacquiao with NO excuses as to why a rubber match shouldn't happen. i think he's going to surprise a lot of people.
