I've actually never seen footage of the first fight. How bad was the cut(s) which forced the stoppage? I believe his lip had actually seperated from his mouth. He also had bad, deep gashes under & over both eyes. Can't remember how many stitches he got but it was a lot. Amazingly he actually coming on in the last couple of rounds before the stoppage. Tough, tough guy...

Great stuff. Escalera is one of the more underrated fighters I can think of. He was tough as fuck. I still haven't seen the Everett fight. Too bad what happened to Everett. He was supposed to be a very talented fighter. No kidding, how often do you see a guy knocked down twice with one eye fighting back at such a blistering pace. He was going all-out win or lose, but Arguello almost decapitated him with that left hook in the 13th.

Excellent fight. I'm in the minority here, but I actually didn't care that much for the first fight. It was bloody, but the action itself was disappointing from what I expected. The rematch, however, was very good. I've actually never seen footage of the first fight. How bad was the cut(s) which forced the stoppage?
