With Mayweather gone and retired, Pavlik is now the best American fighter and one of the best fighters in the world.
34-0, 30 KO's..Undefeated, Undisputed Middleweight Champion of the world!!
I think AA had the far superior chin, heart and endurance. This is a guy who fought edison miranda twice when miranda was a beastly puncher, had his jaw broke and still won. Pavlik wasn't the best coming up against adversity, drugs or no drugs.
Pavlik's chin, heart, and endurance cannot be questioned after his fights with Miranda and Taylor. He was nearly out against Taylor in the 2nd and somehow managed to comeback with the win. Not to mention he went into a hell of a fire fight war against Miranda. The first 2 rounds were crazy high energy thrillers.
It would of been a nice fight indeed, but I think it comes down moreso to AA's pretty tight peek a boo defense and he did have freakish power at one point. Then again, so did Pavlik. A great fight we missed out on :(
I think Kelly wouldve knocked him out around the 10nd round.

So do I, both guys could bang at 160, had chins (AAs was better) and both guys were in their primes.
Sadly, Pavlik's drug troubles weren't too far away.

I wish Pavlik-Abraham would've happened

who is the best american fighter now, that floyd and kelly are both (essentially) retired? I guess semi-active Ward
in b4 they're all busy playing NFL and basketball... even the middleweights
Pavlik is unstoppable at Middleweight, he will be a long reigning Champ...If Pavlik vs Calzaghe dosen't happen I would like to see fight him the other champs Abraham or Sturm.

Wrong,
The End.
Calling people gay on boxing forums is very childish for a man your age. But what can we expect from someone called "squealpiggy"?
I remember the line "squeal like a pig" from the old movie Deliverance. It was in the homosexual rape scene...
Why name yourself after that?
Because it is funny. I personally have no problems with homosexuality, but you do, hence the red K.
As for the topic,
Pavlik is a very good fighter and is certainly the most accomplished American champion that I can think of. People accuse him of being too basic, but I think he has shown that he's a smart fighter with a variety of offensive techniques in his arsenal. Although he was fighting a guy who was there to be hit, he mixed up his attack quite effectively. The lead body shots were Hearns-esque and he even came in with the uppercuts.
Great showing from Kelly.

Seriously I couldn't make it up. I couldn't have planned it better if Tunney was my alt and I was aiming for cheap giggles.
ahahahahhahaaaa....that's good.
Well at least he knows he has to clarify because so few people actually believe him.
It's that sort of carry-on that leads people to see this poster Tunney as a complete tard. Come to think of it all of the time I have received negative karma from him it was at the defense of WLAD OWNS.
GAY!

Thats like saying......David Haye vs. Mikkel Kessler.
Dawson started his career at middleweight and says that he is willing to fight at 168 if there is no big fights at light heavyweight.
He was Pavlik's WBO mandatory. He didn't choose to fight him, he had to fight him, to keep the WBO title.
Jesus Ruiz was a voluntary, hand-picked opponent. At least Lockett was ranked #27 on BoxRec and around there in the IBO ratings. Jesus Ruiz was not even in the top 50.
Why do you approve of Ruiz, and disapprove of Lockett?
Ruiz was ranked top 15 at the time. People disgreed with it, but thats where he was ranked. Just watch Dawson against Ruiz. Al Bernstein stated it. Dawson also didn't hand ''pick'' Ruiz, he had a contract to fight on that day and Paul Briggs didn't want to face Dawson. Ruiz was the only fighter that wanted a shot.
Pavlik was amazing tonight? He should have looked so given he was fighting a poor excuse for a title contender. Almost as pointless a fight as Cotto-Gomez.
Who should he have been fighting? I'm fine with the occasional resume fodder, as all champions do it, but this is a fight in particular where there also weren't a whole lot of options given the other fights that have been made.
Match Pavlik against Dawson at 168 and we will see about that. Boxing lesson in full effect. Pavlik looked spectacular tonight, but we didn't know who Lockett was before and still don't know who he is now.
