I have my own personal views on this, that I will share after I have gathered the general consensus of Americans as to why their nation no longer succeeds with the big boys.
I want this to be a thread that contains real, honest discussion, not hate on different nations/cultures.
Hatton is a top 10 P4P fighter.
Floyd, Hatton, DLH, and prime Tyson, Holyfield etc. make more money than any NFL and NBA player just by fighting 1-2 times a year.
99% of the people who play football or basketball will never make it to the pro's. If they had the talent and dedication to box they would. Many Americans would rather try to be a famous rapper which takes little to no talent, then dedicate themselves to any sport. This argument is as silly as Europeans saying the reason for the lack of top European fighters in the past was because they were playing football (soccer) and other sports. why isnt that legit? If your country concentrates on football instead of boxing, then that country will probebly produce more skilled football players than boxers. thats the way things work
the difference is that in football you dont really need to be all that big, while American football and basketball you pretty much have to.(Depending on the position you play)
coming from the guy who thinks hatton is P4P#4
let me ask you something why box and make 3 to 10 million for three fights when i can make 15 million to play upto 19 games per year or 82 plus nba and still make more the 85% of the boxer out today

The parents think its dangerous. Sure a mom probably doesn't like there kid to play football, but he fears her son getting into boxing. Most parents think boxing = brain damage which isn't always the case especially in amature boxing they stop the fights quick.
You can say kids go for the money all you wan't, but that was always a problem, being as a boxing career in the ams can last longer than pretty much any other sport.
Also, aren't Americans still doing well in the lower divisions? no
Is everyone in the NFL or the NBA the same size as a heavyweight?
Also, some people are mistaking me when I talk about cardio.
The AVERAGE NATURAL SIZE of eastern Europeans is considerably larger than in America. Obviously some Americans are going to be bigger than others, and those that are big enough to compete do not have the stamina as they have a different genetic make up to the eastern europeans.
Boxing in the Usa in a whole is going down cause Guys can make more Playing other sports
Let me ask you something how come before the USSR broke up you always did not come home with the gold if eastern europeans had size over us?

The football excuse from Americans is pathetic....The basketball excuse is even more pathetic, basketball players are pussies and can't fight for shit
Eastern Europeans have other sports too, boxing isn't the main focus....MMA,hockey,soccer,basketball, rugby, strongman, athletics, sambo, wrestling, etc.
American big men have gone soft.
Eastern European big men are tougher, stronger, hungrier and more determined, that's the bottom line.
Well, it is literally a fact that Eastern Euros are better than the Yanks right now, so you're right.
This is my favorite excuse. You think just because the guys are 200+ lb they can go join MLB/NBA/NFL other than boxing? You're basically saying the NFL players right now would be world champs in boxing if it weren't for money, because all the good boxers are playing other sports right? Like I said, just because you're big doesn't mean you can box.
What are you talking about? If someone grows up boxing, then theyre going to be good at boxing. but the problem is that bigger guys in the US are NOT growing up boxing, because there is more incentive to go into team sports. no one is saying that if you pluck out a guy in the NFL and put boxing gloves on him that he will do well. How about this?
There is no reason. It just happened. One day it will unhappen again.
Possible? It does seem a bit like saying, we're not the best, but really we are. of course there are reasons, there are reasons for pretty much everything. and no one is saying the second part at all.
its common sense...if any country that has big individuals in it completely dedicated itself to boxing, chances are they are going to have some pretty good heavyweights. its not an excuse at all, thats how things work.
its like looking at Mexico and comparing it to Bangledesh. They have similiar sized populations, but Mexico has produced waaaaay more boxers. Why? because boxing is more a part of their culture.

Eastern Europeans will continue to dominate for a very long time.
I don't buy the best American fighters being in "other sports" argument. It's far more likely they're playing video games instead of sports or trying to be a rapper or in prison combined with the decline in popularity of boxing in the States and the surge of boxing's popularity throughout Europe and the fall of the USSR. The "other sports" is just a cop out, nothing more.

The reason for the decline of American heavyweights is that boxing is a fringe sport in the USA and all the really gifted and talented athletes are playing in the nba or nfl.

But this has always been an issue with boxing. It's not like it has just started now...
boxing started to go down in the when other sports became more popular
no what i'm saying is they make more money in other sports the money is in NBA NFL etc tv snickers company but money in these sports if i go outside right now and ask who the best boxer to ten young kids have of them wont know boxing is not big over here anymore the NBA MLB NFL are so none of these kids want to box when they can make more money
Well that's exactly my point, people with the physical gifts for a sport will be great at it if they train at it. Unfortunately, very few of these physically gifted kids are boxing at a young age. I think most parents would rather have their kids play sports in school than go outside to a gym where they have their children get "punched in the head". It's simply not a sport that kids grow up doing. I didn't even know that training to box was a possibility until I was in my late teens and by then I only did it for fun and exercise.
But this has always been an issue with boxing. It's not like it has just started now...
You can make that argument for anyone then, if anyone really trained from an early age in a sport they could be really good at it.

Instead of going into boxing they going into NBA NFL MLB where they can make much more money. So they start at a young age to go play sports like NBA etc instead of training to be a boxer its all about the money
