is Ricky Hatton a bigger draw than Cotto?
Really, Hatton has had one PPV, and he wasn't the attraction of it. It was his first PPV, and Floyd's 5th.
Cotto already has had two... in which he was the star in one, for sure (unless some idiot really believes that Zab "losing streak" Judah is still the PPV draw).
So honestly, what is the excuse going to be after Cotto beats Margarito and after Mayweather beats Oscar if they don't fight?
There is no one around the 147 weight class who is a PPV draw other than Cotto.
Guess Sugar Ray Robinson wasn't a true champion then.
Ray Robinson ducked nobody and ended up broke.....
The only guy that has a reasonable claim to being avoided was Burley Ray fought twice in one month for a TITLE!
Guy was a warrior the fighters back then couldn't afford to chose fights because money was scarce even people like Louis who had the biggest gate at the time ended up heavy in debt.
Dude you were wrong he was right, deal with it.
I don't have to "deal" with anything. jmah and I were having a discussion. Yes I was wrong, no shame in admitting that. I just like to confirm that certain data is correct, and don't like to assume just because someone posted it, it is indeed fact. By him taking the time to post a source I have a clearer understanding of how nielsen rating work, and in effect won't post wrong numbers in the future myself.
"Unlike the ratings for the broadcast networks, which measure households in a national sample, the cable ratings for a channel will reflect only how its shows do among households that happen to get that channel, or what is referred to as the channel's coverage area."

Premium cable channels have far less coverage than the standard cable channels so they scale differently. IOW, the 2.1 for HBO (premium) represents fewer less households (and in turn viewers) than a 2.1 would on USA (basic/standard).
Thanks for taking the time out to post. Now I understand how it works.
A source as far as Nielsen ratings scaling differently for premium channels.

For market penetration?
"Between the first quarter of 2006 and the end of 2007, HBO has grown from 28.2 million subscribers to 28.9, according to SNL Kagan, while Showtime’s subscriber counts increased from 14.5 million to 15.5 million and The Movie Channel expanded from 14.5 million to 16.6 million."

"The #1 network in basic cable, USA Network is seen in nearly 94 million U.S. homes."

HBO, Showtime, and the like will scale different because they don't have the same penetration as standard cable since they are premium channels.
Do you have a source?
Are you sure? According to this chart I might have been underestimating the amount of viewers who tunes into Cotto/Gomez.

There's no excuse for Floyd not to face the Cotto-Marg winner. Fuck how much their PPV does or whichever one wins. If he really considers himself the WW champ he'll prove it against the July winner after he beats DLH again.
The 2.1 is a cable rating, which represents fewer households than a network rating.
Also 1 household does not equal 1 viewer.

I posted this on another thread, the rating between Cotto/Gomez did way more than Hatton/Lazcano.
A single national ratings point represents one percent of the total number, or 1,128,000 households for the 2006-07 season.
His last outing against Alfonso Gomez in Atlantic City did one of the lowest ratings ever (2.1) for an HBO World Championship Boxing telecast.
Cotto = 2,368,800
Hatton = 281,000

Except Hatton sells out crowds of 56,000. He has fans that travel across the ocean for him, and he's very marketable with the 24/7 series (Nice guy, little bit cocky, has pride, nation resting on his shoulders, family man, devoted, witty, funny, etc).
edit: Oh and Ricky is somewhat of a bigger draw. Ricky had 281, 000 views in the afternoon on Saturday and Cotto-Gomez (along with Cintron-Margarito) only did a little more then that at night.
Granted Versus is free, but a lot of people have HBO too.

I don't know what it is but Floyd turns very good posters into complete jokes. I'm saddened that it happened to a good e-friend of mine as well.
I hope that's not about me...
I don't think I'm a joke when I talk about Floyd, but maybe that is the perception.
:(
Na, he only brought 10,000 over to Vegas for the Castillo fight.
It's not good enough.:ugh:

I bought Hatton vs. Maussa on US PPV...
But Hatton's been selling PPVs outside the US prior to that though too
all the excuses people are giving for hatton were POST mayweather. he didnt bring 30K people against Castillo or anyone else prior to the floyd fight.
Well I personally thought the first Hatton fight was a good legacy fight.
The second one needs a tremendous amount of money to justify it though... god, I mean Mayweather wiped him the fuck out, badly, and they are talking rematch? Why... seriously?

A true champion fights for pride anyway, not money.
How does it feel to defacate your reputation defending a money whoring fraud?
Name one fighter who doesn't fight for money. And I am not talking about fighting for free.
I'll be waiting...
