heres the video of the pedan throwing up blood, its after the first fight hightlight
Thanks for posting this. It's gross. It hurts to watch. Good the fight was stopped.
It's such a tough game the fight game.
Carlo Rotella's excellent boxing book, "Cut Time," talks about Holmes, by then in his 40s, vomiting after sparring in his Pennsylvania gym.
As for the guy who vomited during a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, I believe that was Robbie Peden.
I thought I was the only one who had read Carlo Rotella's book. That book gave me a strong appreciation for Larry Holmes' professionalism. He had a lot of dedication for a financially secure man in his mid-40's.
Barfing in sparring is very normal in boxing gyms. Heck, I just saw Sechew Powell do it yesterday twice while sparring. When the temperature is up and you ate too soon before sparring it can happen.
Most people who throw up in sparring can wipe their faces and get ready to fight in moments. I've seen some people improve after throwing up.
Holmes actually fought pretty well in that fight, given his age. He was crafty off the ropes and landed some good shots.
According to Holmes he also fought with a detached retina and had to wear contacts into the ring, Holyfield hit him and knocked the contacts out in the first round so he couldn't see clearly and couldn't judge the distance properly, he said that's the reason he stood on the ropes for the majority of the fight.
Did this guy Peden vomit between rounds and was he allowed to continue?

It was definitely Robbie Peden. He had swallowed so much blood that he started puking in the 10th round when he went back to his corner.

As a result of puking from swallowing so much blood they had to stop the fight.

I remember thinking seeing Evander Holyfield vomiting during the round or when he sits back in his corner in a fight with Bowe can't remember which one, i'm pretty sure I saw it.
I dont remember that sorry.
The only other barf-story I recall is legendary GreenBay QB Brett Favre coughing up blood after some vicious hits taken. Favre went back on the field throwing a TD-pass and leading his team to the win.
