I am not sure what his name was. Actually I don't know much of anything he said. His speech was so slurred I could only hear bits and snippets. I was shadow boxing and he asked if I boxed (I won't disresepect him by typing the way he said it) and I was like yeah and he said he was boxing since he was 7 and he's 39 now (I think that's what he said). He speech was SO slurred I put my hands down and didn't think much about boxing until I came online. Boxing is a little TOO real sometimes man.:frown:
that is crazy Skills, I know SOOO many people that used to box and they can't talk clearly now and it is CRAZY. Many St.Louis boxers turned out that way, I just thank God that my dad still talks good (he fought since he was about 6, but was good enough to NOT take as much punishment).
Skills, do you work with Meldrick Taylor?
Wow. Not funny.
And Skills, at first I thought that you were ripping off Nate Campbell's story about how he used to shadowbox as a security guard, and then got noticed by a co-worker.
While on the topic of boxing effects, I read somewhere that it still has not been proven that boxing headguards used by amateurs is an effective enough protection against brain damage. How much protection do they actually offer then?
There is even an argument that they make brain damage worse, because they spread out the force of the blow acros the entire head. The same argument has been applied to boxing gloves too.

will that is part of the game.
That is way it is better to be a defensive fighter and retire once you complete your legacy.
That is what Mayweather is doing, there will be alway a person who he should have fought intell he becomes weak and he loses

fuck, what an excellent post..
Reality has an element of stupidity behind it.
Enter the term Punch drunk, this is what happens when you dont keep your guard up. You have to be smart when you box no matter how hard of a punch you can take.
That is true haha
O course there is risk, but you have to be smart in order to not go down that path. You have to really assess after a loss if you can and should continue. Good defense isn't bad either, like Floyd Mayweather says "I'm not into this game to see how hard I can get hit, or how much punishment I can take"... Sometimes I go to gyms and see retarded retired fighters and it makes me shook, but I just realize what I said before. Plus I'm 18 and go to school, and realize I would only go pro after winning a couple of major amateurtournaments.
One thing you have to realize and its been said. Floyd Mayweather Jr. sparring are very tough. And he says he fights bigger boxers then him. Sparring can also hurt you in the long run, i would say slugfest all the time of course are bad.
Only one fighter that i know of or heard of that stopped sparring. And was a very good pro fighter Danny "Kid Dynamite" Romero. He was a badass. But him not sparring im sure also effected the way he fought theres no replacement for sparring. I also not sure how long he keep having pro fights and not sparring. But Romero is the first that i know of to accept a pro fight and train with no sparring.I've seen some very tough sparrings that just amazes me. And i've been in some tough sparrings.
hahah...nate popped in my hand when i seen this title...i think that's how nate was discovered...shadow boxing in a publix warehouse to stay awake...may be wrong...

You were shadow boxing at work? Who do you think you are Nate Campbell!? lol
I've meet an ex boxer that was the same way. Its a sad reality. Either you love boxing and take the risk that comes with it.
Even in football more and more people are speaking out how ex-nfl players live with life long injuries.
