Have him fight Oscar De La Hoya on PPV and promote it as some sort of Hispanic passing of the torch. If Cotto defeats Marg then I guarantee this will happen before Cotto fights Mayweather. that would be the best...... cuz oscar is a draw... and they would look to cotto to hold up to the young oscar... Other than that he has to talk to people... No one knows him. one of my chicks thought he was a Big african....but she knows mayweather.

What everyone else said makes sense...and it works...(and has worked several times in the past) but i think another key ingrediant that hasnt been talked about is the matchmaking... the best fighters will eventually shine even if they have no personality or no matter if they fight in NY primarily instead of Vegas... If you put a fighter in with the RIGHT competition he will gain popularity strictly on his performances in the ring. if cotto beats margarito in july then cotto's popularity will boom once again (like it has risen by winning fights against judah and mosley)... there is no one step solution to becoming known to casual fans...but truth be told out of all the fighters to grace a PPV card or HBO/SHO, etc. a VERY small percentage of them come to the spotlight of being WIDELY known by all casual fans... I think ALL casual boxing fans have heard of Oscar De La Hoya; Mike Tyson, Ali; etc. the key is success in my opinon...you can create buzz by trashtalking or fighting in vegas but overtime the popularity wont last unless you are something great to watch in the ring...

A lot of my mates have never heard of Cotto and Pavlik. Thank god for youtube! They're both quite humble boxers so I guess that's why. What more could he do? Call out hatton and batter him! lol

Have him start talkin shit. It ain't classy, which is why he don't do it now, but it would help.
