I agree with you but that is not what we are saying. Gamboa won a solid fight against a good b-level fighter. But from what I saw tonight, I think Gamboa loses his first fight before the end of 2009 OR his handlers will smarten up quickly and slow down the level of competetition (alla ANDRE WARD) befroe that happens....
I think Gamboa will win a belt around the end on the year, or early 2009 against a weaker title holder at 130 after everyone like Pac, JMM, Guzman, etc moves up.
well I thought Gamboa never looked like losing , he simply outclassed Jimenez.
i thought the guy could definitely take a beating, thats why the ko never came.
i mean just cuz he didnt get the ko, doesn't mean he didnt do a good job.

The thread creator was almost right.
He kept his hands low and he did get caught.
Unfortunately the other guy doesn't pack the biggest punch.
Against somebody better he will have major problems.
agreed, jimenez has no real power. in additon i saw three other things with jimenez that make me think he is just a "b" level fighter
1) couldn't throw a jab
2) didn't know how to take a half step back, create just a little room and catch gamboa coming in
3) didn't know how to turn or pivot on gamboa and give him angles
if he could, I think gamboa would of had his first loss tonight?

Not only will Gamboa not lose tonight, I doubt whether he will lose a fight during the next five years. He is very talented.
sorry tunney,
after his performance tonight I just don't see it. he was knocked down once, almost twice, by a solid "b" level fighter. I predict Gamboa loses within the next year.
Im not sure if I would go that far, superfeather is loaded with talent, Valero and Guzman are two young undefeated fighters who will be around, and Pac and Jmm are still there as well.
Guzman isn't that young in boxing terms, he's 32.

Reb I'll give you 1.5 odds on Jimenez.
If Gamboa wins a decision the bet is a push.
If Gamboa wins by KO I pay you 10K
If Jimenez wins a decision you pay me 10K
If Jimenez wins by KO you pay me 50K
You want it?
well i tell you what, if Jimenez is an elite fighter and gamboa hasn't "fixed" the hands he's getting KO'D for sure. if Gamboa does keep his hands at his waist and doesn't get KO'D it only proves, IMO, that Jimenez is just a "b" level fighter.
we have all been watching boxing long enough to know that you don't get away with low hands with the "a" fighters unless you are a prime RJJ. mayweather can't even do that.
from my experience MOST fighters are not able to correct this habit. it will be very interesting to see what happens tomorrow
prince nasseem got away with his hands being low.

You need to rewatch Gamboas fights. Hands down does not mean hands not ready to come up. Gamboa blocks the left hook when he needs to. He slips rolls, ducks. He doesn't simply stand there with his hands low... The guy won a Gold Medal in a system were points count. I think he knows how to not get hit...

Jimenez isn't an elite fighter.
Gamboa is fast and has very good reflexes so he can get away with having his hands low but he should keep them higher.
Looking at his training video posted here yesterday, they are working on it and his hands are higher, at least in training.
He knows about his hands being low and has said he's working on it. I'd be surprised if he lost.

I got 10K on Gamboa. Who down?
I'll bet the following if you want it:
If Gamboa wins by decison the bet is a push.
If Gamboa loses by KO you pay me 50K
If Gamboa wins by KO I'll pay you 10K
If Jimenez wins by decision you pay me 10K
You down?
other than anchondo I agree. i think this will be a very telling fight for both...
Yea...You're right...I take it back...
Looking at Anchondo's record again.... he's probably better than anyone Gamboa has faced
