obviously hopkins, but from the large casual sportsfan crowd i don't know.
The majority probably still feels Mike Tyson is greater than Joe Louis. That is if they even know who Joe Louis is at all.
Hopkins... Oscars lose, win, lose, win, lose rematch Mayweather?! That's probaly gonna look bad IMO.
I do personally think Hopkis is the better fighter..
oscar no question,,better boxer, better athlete, more weight classes, more world titles and an olympic champion too,fan friendly and a gentlemen(fishnets aside)has hopkins actually fought anyone his own size besides fat tarver.
Oscar's resume is second to none....
Bernard Hopkins
Floyd Mayweather
Shane Mosley x2
Felix Trinidad
Pernell whitaker
Julio Cesar Chavez
Hector Camacho
Fernando Vargas
Ricardo Mayorga
Arturo Gatti
Ike Quartey
Felix Sturm
Oba Carr
Rafael Ruelas
Patrick Carpentier
Wilfredo Rivera
Miguel Angel Gonzalez
Darryl Tyson
Genaro Hernandez
Jesse james Leija
John John Molina
Jorge Paez
Jimmy Bredahl
Giorgio Campanella
Yori Boy Campas
basically everyone who was anyone.
all that is missing is vernon forrest and winky wright.
thats your oppinion on the wins and losses but according to the records oscar beat whitaker.sturm and hopkins are both bigger men than oscar and floyd is considered the best in the game.who has hopkins beat, delahoya 147 fighter trinidad 147 fighter wright 154 fighter tarver 175 fighter, besides tarver every one of those fighters were atleast 13 lbs out of there best weight
john david jackson, keith holmes, antwun echols, glen johnson..
they were better fighters then peter manfredo, branko sobot, and an old chris eubank
he has never fought anyone as good as taylor or calzaghe until he was 39 which is when he fought taylor.calzaghe doesn't have to beat anyone at the age of 43 the fact of the matter is joe has been fighting boxers from 160-175 his whole carrer and is still undefeated he didn't have to beat up welterweights to make his name
ok im not trying to take anything away from joe cuz obviously he is a good fighter.. but who has he fought?? he didnt fight top contenders at his weight class. he just now fought hopkins and lost in my opinion.
He lost to taylor at 41...and to Calzaghe at 43. C'mon. Think about it. Who will Calzaghe be beating at 43?
...and losing to Roy Jones carries no shame.

thats wrong.
if u look at my sig u can see i like both fighters but ima keep it real.
oscar lost to whitaker, and he beat an old camacho and an old chavez.. and oscar lost to damn near every big name fighter he fought. although i do believe he beat trinidad and mosley in the 2nd fight, he still lost to mosley once, bhop, floyd, he lost to sturm, and barely beat quartey.
i gotta go with bhop
and bhop really beat calzaghe

De la Hoya will always be remembered for choking in the big situations. He lost a lot of big fights.
Hopkins will be remembered for being dominant even in his late 30's/early 40's
Hopkins is the obvious choice. He dominated his division for years. Oscar was all about being in big money fights. The problem is that he didn't win enough of them.
bernards biggest wins are against smaller men oscar has big wins over big name fighters in his weight class like whitaker, chavez, gatti, hernandez, camacho and he beat vargas at 154
thats wrong.

When Bernard Hopkins fought blown-up welterweights, he KNOCKED THEM OUT.
Oscar fought smaller guys and struggled. Or lost.
when bernard fought the best from 160 -175 which is his weight limit he lost (jones, taylor and calzaghe)
