I've started sparring and I know I absolutely love it.. But I mean I think the thing i'm most worried about is my funn personality (Not being big headed) but i'm always told i'm really witty and funny and I'd just like to ask, can boxing take that away from a person?

Look at Ali, Leonard, Tapia, Delahoya, Hopkins, Toney, Ayala, etc. These guess are cool people. They'll joke with you. I think even the great Lamatta was a charector after his boxing career. And funky_monk is right if you're worried about it then maybe its not for you. But go ahead and join a gym and see what you feel after a month, at least you can say you tried.
I know a a guy that used to be a pro boxer when i was in jr. high school. Seemed serious but was cool to people he knew or who talked to him. Later on i joined a gym. I seen this same guy, he of course had many more fights since the day i meet him but he remember me and gave me encougagment. He was a still a cool person, now i just couldn't really understand him. But he did have his own business that came by way of professional boxing(getting the money to start a busniss). And just to clarify, his fighting style was that of the old time Mexican boxers, forward, forward, forward, he was a brawler and a very tough one at that.
I just think imo, punchs effects fighters differntly. Lamatto took a lot of punchs in the ring. But last interview i seen of him i could understand him and he was telling jokes.
They say what effects fighters a lot too is very tough sparring, day in and day out. But i know of a gym that produced good fighters/pros from this teaching. But i think some people get effected by punchs more so then others in there later years.
I know Johnny Tapia's dad stopped having him sparr for fear of damage later on in his life. I don't know how long he kept him from sparring but i know he did this for a few fights. But reality is you need sparring to be a great fighter.
I think the best thing for you to do is go to a gym and train and then when your number is called to sparr then you can decide if its for you.
Well there have been a few i have met who id say yes but not knowign them before would be hard to judge. I have met some guys who have lost most their career and are fine. Its about risk though, you are obviosuly taking a risk by doing it, but most of life is about taking risks of sort. Pro boxing is banned in scandinavian countrys like sweeden.
Id also suggest if you are worried about it maybe its not the right sport for you.
Well i know some guys who fought on the Oxford Uni team and they are still capable of quantum mechanics theories and equations... that shoudl make you feel a bit better.
