Damn.. That shit look like a phantom punch!
Lol even Jim Lampley aint even know what it was. He said a left hook, but it was a fast ass jab! haha
Look at 00:25
Lol wow.... That shit was a hard stiff as jab which would end the night with the last knockdown lol.. Even woobled his ass with it.. DAMN!!
I was at the Judah fight and it's a miracle Cotto didn't go down from that shot - You're right, against an instinctive uppercut puncher like Margie, he better stay tight and keep that right hand in a good defensive position.
The problem with his wide temple defense is when he is inside it leaves him wide, wide open for certain punches that against Floyd will be ruthlessly exploited. The big difference between that fight and one with Floyd is that Judah can't fight on the inside very well, but, he was still able to connect on the punch that will lose Cotto a fight against Floyd which is the inside uppercut. It's one of the Mayweather's favourite punches and he is stunningly good at using it as a counter against the left hook to the body. Cotto will be tagged all night with the right hook/uppercut and straight right after throwing the left.

Haw haw haw!
It took Judah less than 90 seconds to set that up. That's how amateur and thoughtless the lunging can be. Judah could have cooked breakfast and read the paper while he was waiting for Cotto to predticably move right into his uppercut. It was a cherry. You can actually see Zab waiting for him.
It's also not just the jab, Cotto lunges with everything in his arsenal. Capitalizing on it is a different story for the average, a fighter without the reflexes, or someone fighting stupid or cowardly - but it's hard to imagine Mayweather and others not tearing into this tendency like skirt steak.
Potentially, I would have to say so.
:fing02: Uhuh, spot on brother Add.
They are the perfect punches for a counter puncher to counter. If they don't land it leaves the fighter wide open, out of position and off balance for short sharp counters. Cotto would have to learn to keep his jab strong but shorten it up and use it to get inside and then throw combinations and then try to get back out of range of counters.
If he uses the jab like he did against Gomez he would get countered viciously. Cotto still has not fixed that super-wide open, high 'hands-at-the-temple' defense which would be a nightmare against Mayweather. He would be on the inside trying to get off his left constantly which leaves him open for the right elbow block and short right upper/straight or hook counter which is Mayweathers bread and butter inside set of punches.
I actually think he should work on a hard body jab for a fight with Mayweather as he would be much more likely to land and could use it to set up solid combinations. Feint with it as well as Ray Robinson and Morales did so well. Jab down to the sternum or stomach then follow it up with a jab upstairs to stop the counter or using the shoulder and upper arm to block any counter because if he uses that head jab for most of the fight he will be constantly countered with the right over the top when he misses.
That was a beautiful uppercut the one Judah threw at LowBlotto, fucking cheater Cotto then hits poor Zab in the balls to catch that second win, he was going to get KO'd in the first round if it weren't for that.
hahaha ur pathetic :bottle: :bottle:

Gotta give it to Emanuel Steward for his intutition. He's uncanny at predicting things right as they happen.
yea Steward is good at predicting the action down the stretch it seems. He was on point with B-Hop/Calzaghe..

I was pissed he went low too (cause I knew it would raise questions) but cotto was fully recovered at that point - KO should have happened with the first clean shot - thank god for Cotto's 147lb chin
:hijacked:
Sorryto crash the party...but he was fighting Alfonso Gomez..who cares???

I think it's like Cotto's judgement day.
Either he somehow survives 12 rounds and outboxes Tony who will throw over 1000 punches.........or he succumbs to the inevitable in many people's eyes including mine. Being he's in against the guy who is built simply to expose the couple flaws he does have as a fighter. (Chin and Defense).
It might just be me but I highly doubt he'll let off 1000 punches. I think Margo will be active as fuck but not dumb wit it. Cotto will be smart and move back, and around Margo. but will also flurry when the ring gets cut off. and bang his body to get out. With the height differences I think Margos ribs are in for a fucking beating. But hopefully Cotto keeps away from the nasty uppercuts that I'm sure Margo will be aiming to land on Cotto's "questionable" chin.
I saw that jab the first time around. The punch I didn't see from Cotto was the left handed uppercut he landed on Judah that floored him. I thought he dropped Judah with a right till they showed the replay.
yea it should have lasted 2 rounds but thats not the type of fighter Cotto is....he enters the ring to work not to show that he can knock some1 out, everyone knows what Cotto can do....plus whut good would it be for Cotto to knock him out early?? it would have been a waste of time. he just sparred a lil wit Gomez and taught him a lesson and practiced a lil while he beat the crap out of him
Well in hindsight I can't argue with you here.
But either way it's taking an unnecessary risk when a fighter does that and not to mention it's like he's going about the motions.
Wright does that even though he's always been one of my favorite fighters......but he has an excuse. His excuse is that he never tries to knock anyone out. If it does happen it's an accident.
Cotto has the damn knockout power with the left.

His offense is just fucking ridiculous from a boxing perspective now. I mean he's evolved.
But then again guys, that was Alfonso Gomez.
And he took too fucking long to get him out of there. Should have lasted 2 rounds tops and that's only if Cotto was awake.
He impressed yeah but he was asleep at the wheel against someone who didn't even belong in the ring with him. Looked like a heavy bag session.

Who do you got in Cotto/Marg, because I've heard lately on this forum that alot of marg fans even favor cotto to win it. I think Cottos jab shit on Margaritos jab, Margarito is a sick inside fighter with great combos but its not like Cotto is a bad inside fighter either. But then again, its probably Cottos best intrest to keep Margarito away from a distance with his hard and fast jab.

He throws his whole body weight behind it. It's a lunging jab. That's how Judah caught him with the first uppercut that almost ended the fight.
Against premier talent it's always goint to be serious problems. :dead1:
