And possibly Bernard Hopkins, maybe not knock him out, but defeat him either way .. Kessler is still Calzaghes biggest win IMO .. He doesn't have as good a resume as Jones or Hopkins, nor is he as great but presently, Kessler poses more threat to anybody than Hopkins or Jones does.
Well, I've seen a bit more of Kessler than that - and let's not dismiss his outing on the Calzaghe night. He was excellent. I don't see where there were any specific problems. His timing was extraordinary and his right hand was coming across like a heat seaking missle.
Basically, he just had no other tricks to pull out.LMAO@ your sig. "I do what i need to do to win"
Someone please find me a class a or b fighter Kessler has beaten!!
You won't find any. Typical 168 pound hideaway for fighters driven out of 160 lb and too afraid to fight at 175. The only reason it garnered attention the last few years, is because you had two decent guys beating up and clearing out the trash in there.
168 will always be the wasteland or a stepping stone division. Kessler has been tested against one other good fighter, has failed, and is looking to pick up on scraps in there once again. How can anyone have confidence in this guy?
Kessler was definetely not up to his best vs. Calzaghe. He broke his hand in training and didn't spar for 3 weeks up to the fight. He fought Joe with a broken hand!
But the point with the left hook you made is very true. He should work on improving the hook.

I didn't say Kessler was great, I'm saying hes a better fighter than Jones and Hopkins NOW .. not in their prime but NOW.
Doesn't that remain to be seen?
kessler would have his hand full with jones, too much experience from jones to fall into any of kesslers traps.
hopkins would maul kessler and probably have him frustrated beyond belief, picking him apart inside the ring, hopkins is probably one of the toughest fighters to hit clean in the sport right now, just ask calzaghe who only landed a few clean shots, the rest were scoring shots just not clean effective shots. kessler is too straight up of a fighter, too clean of a boxer to really do anything against a cagey fighter like hopkins.
back to jones vs kessler, jones' awkwardness and his hand speed would be overwhelming for kessler for the first half of the fight and if kessler didn't do any serious body work in the first half of the fight then jones would run away with it.
i like kessler but the guy is lacking a lot of world class experience, that A level experience, he has some now, but against guys like bhop or jones his experience is and would not be enough.................
I like Kessler quite a bit and I appreciate his talents. However, when I was reviewing his fight with Calzaghe it became glaringly obvious that Kessler is more of a mechanical 1-2 puncher than meets the eye initially because he is such an incredible athlete. That's really truly all he is and again; because he is soo outrageously good at what he does it's somewhat easy to miss.
He has very little diversified Boxing ability at all. I'll say this; if Kessler got a new trainer and they improved his counter punching and built up his left hook and made him lead with it and use it more often, tooled aroung and made a few changes, he could be one of the best fighters on planet Earth.

Roy's better than Kessler but he ain't got the chin to take his power. Kessler probably would win by a KO but it ain't like Roy couldn't take him at all. Doubtful this fight gets made anyway.
Okay thats fine..but what does that say..this convo is a mute point.
How would Kessler do aginst Miranda..Taylor...Butte...Mundine....Dawson....Johnson????
Miranda - Kessler TKO
Taylor - Kessler 116-114
Bute - Kessler UD
Mundine - Kessler late TKO or wide UD
Dawson - Kessler TKO
Johnson - Kessler UD
So, there it is ... And Kessler IS a good fighter.. You wannabe black bitch. :)

it's funny how kessler at this time last year was 'great' or or on his way atleast, and was going to 'own' calzaghe.. atleast it seemed that most people were thinknig or hoping so
Whoever said Kessler was great was on crack.
RJJ at this stage of his career is no match for Kessler. I am absolutely certain that Kessler knocks him out cold.
But this fight will never happen. Kessler has said that RJJ is his idol and that he couldn't fight his idol.
But hey... money talks so maybe down the line?

This fool needs to pull the power supply out of his computer and throw it out the window for saying something like that. This is the same Kessler who was afraid to fight Miranda. Kessler is trash shouldnt be in the same breath as Roy and Bernard
If Kessler is this beasty ass fighter why does the thought of this guy make him shiver??? Easy night of work for the great Kessler right????:nonono:

I think that fight will happen in the future you know, I don't think Kessler is scared of him, something must have fucked up in the negotiation.
Agreed. Kessler probably would knock Jones out now, not prime for prime though. He hits harder than Tarver I imagine.
I think its possible though that Roy may be a bit older and wiser than he used to be. He must be glaringly aware that he can't take the big shots, so I think he'd try very hard not to, and might get through the fight, at which point the possibility of taking a decision certainly exists.
Definately not prime for prime, this fight might actually become reality if Joe beats Jones ... I wonder if Jones takes the fight though? If he got KO'd it would most likely be the end of his career.
Jones has the ability to outbox Kessler but I think there's more a chance of Kessler winning than Jones winning right now.
Prime for prime, Jones wins.
Well then that's not saying a lot...
I didn't say it was, I'm not a Calzaghe fan or a Calzaghe hater, I'm just trying to make my own mind up about him to be honest ...
