Do any of you ever have a day where you feel - Why do boxing? I mean I cant be arsed.. And on top of that it gives braindamage sort of days?
I just feel as if I cant be bothered to go and I just feel as if what benefit am I getting. Im getting brain damage and other problems and what not. I also always feel really anxious on the way and before I go making me feel as if I dont want to, but when I get there, I love it.
Any help would really benefit me right at this moment.
EDIT::: I WENT BOXING IN THE END (TONIGHT) AND IM TYPING IN CAPS BECAUSE IM GLAD I WENT AND SO HAPPY BECAUSE I NIGHT I HESITATED GOING I GOT TOLD I SHOULD BE READY FOR MY FIRST AM FIGHT IN THE NEXT SEASON! THANKS ALL FOR YOUR MOTIVATION! It's just one of those days.
Keep the comments coming though.. really will come in handy for anyone whenever they need the boost!
your right about the if you lose your first fights it doesn't mean you have no talent, but i'm not sure Calzaghe losing his first 9 amateur fights is true.. where'd you hear that?
Well maybe not 9.. But he lost quite a few.. Give me a sec ill look it up!
if you love boxing, then box, but you have to live the life of a boxer and give yourself a chance. That means training each day. Each day will be a small victory.
If you can`t give yourself to boxing, then each day will be a small failure and you will suffer a bigger failure when you fight guys who aren`t bums.
The choice is yours. Its a hard life, not many people have the will to succeed. Many people can live the life for a few months, but they usually give up when they aren`t seeing the progress they think they should be making.
Of course you can box to keep fit and have fun, but if thats the case, you wouldn`t be so emotional about it.
There is a great satisfaction to be had from doing things 100%. It breeds confidence and more motivation.
If you take the slack approach, it will piss you off more than you can ever imagine because the wars aren`t against other boxers, they are against yourself..
if you lose all your fights and suck at the sport, then quit, but if your doing well and have obvious talent, stick with it.
Thats the thing.. I havnt had a fight just yet... But I mean if I lose my first fight it doesnt mean I have no talent.. Calzaghe lost his first 9 amateur fights.. Now look at him..
Quit, son.
You'll never become good enough to be known.
Why put yourself through all the risks when you know you aren't gonna reap the rewards?
You're gonna get bruised up and ugly and die at a young age.
You get nothing from me, son.
See now I know your the c*nt of the forum. Leave.
Any wonder why it says HELP?
Just fuck off man, fuck off.
All of the time. I used to feel like I was doing all of this hard work and self-denial for no reason at all. You have to have set goals and feel good about what you're doing. I know I used to hate sparring but even when getting beat on I found new things to do and started gaining confidence. It made boxing fun. Stick with it, you're doing it for a reason.
So you mean once you got used to sparring, you stopped hating it, and started loving it?

i think everybody has that in there mind, thats why there people that can say, " i used to box" and people who can say, "i held the WBC(IBf or WBA) World Title!"
What would you like to be able to say?
Honestly, I'm sorry I offended you or your friend but that's my opinion, plain and simple. I was being 100% serious. ANYONE with knowledge about boxing will tell you he doensn't punch correctly. How has he gotten this far in his career? Who knows.
Your mom and I will send you a postcard from this gutter.
There was no need for a comment like that, twats like you belong in the fucking gutter.

Honestly the only help I can give you is to tell you to just train dont box, spar from time to time, if you already have doubts or are concerned with it, your not 100% mentally into it and in this sport that can get you hurt.
I ended up with a blind spot in my right eye and a damaged nerve in my brain stem which gives me chronic headaches all the time, yes these things do happen but the question you have to ask yourself are you willing to put yourself and your loved ones through this?
You should train to punch correctly unlike your idol Joey. Just look af the GIF in your signature, do the exact opposite and you should be good to go.

Yes. I'm currently on a break from boxing, I'll start training again seriously soon.

Hmm. Sounds as if you've got serious doubts, you shouldn't be as apprehensive when you make your way to the gym, plus thinking about brain damage is a very bad sign. I quit because I was tired of training, wasn't getting as many fights as I wanted, and wasn't as talented as to become the kind of fighter whereby it would be WORTH all the effort, i.e. national champion, excellent record etc
