Wouldnt be close. KO 10 or earlier. Im talking about the Hopkins that went out there in round 1 with every intention of ending his opponents careers. The guy that fought Trinidad or Johnson. THAT hopkins beats Cal everyday of the week and twice on sunday.
thoughts?
You think a PRIME hopkins would have laid back after that first round KD? He probably would have stopped him right there. But the chances of him scoring a first round KD if they fight again are little to none.
I thought Cal won too, he's just not that great of a fighter. period end of story
SO that means CALZAGHE is better than WINKY and would dominate TARVER,listen HOPKINS is a clown ,acts like he wants to trade and really g to war in that rin, with his prefight I'M ready to die i that ring, well apparantly he wasn't cause holdsall night he holds, hits and holds ,then HE decides when to let go again hit then hold again.I thought had they sat and REALLY fought HOPKINS BECOMES ANOTHER lacy,OVERRATED bum THAT POPKINS IS opening cuts with his head acting like he was shot by a tap on the cup,I GUESS JAIL or shall I say SOMEONE in jail SOFTENED HIM UP.I love it another WHITE CHAMPION ow how the cultural landscape is changing in boxing

no doubt in my mind that a prime bhop wouldve annihalated JC..
u saw tonight that joe isnt anything special.. he won it on sheer activity just as i pridicted..
What was Hopkins' prime? When he was younger he may have had better physical attributes, but he's never been smarter than he is now.
Exactly, every single one of Bernard's big wins have come after his 36th birthday. Two of his biggest wins (and arguably the only big names close to his size or the same size as him), came after his 41st birthday.
Prime Hopkins stops Calzaghe. A 43 year old Knocked him down and cut him :owned:
Hopkins lost the fight. You really ought to watch until the end.
If Hopkins was going after a knockout from the first round he would have been knocked out thanks to a million shoeshines from Calzaghe. There's a reason that Bernard didn't go after Calzaghe following the knockdown: He's a very clever boxer so he knew that if he went after Joe he was getting fucked up.
calzaghe hit harder when he was younger but he has broken his hand and now they are fragile if this fight would have happened a couple of years back joe would of still won
Watch the replay. Decent punch, but that was a pushdown, not a knockdown. At no time in the fight was Calzaghe seriously hurt.
I agree. It was a punch that put him off balance, then Bernard pushed him down.

Prime has nothing to do with it. Hopkins got out thought. Calzaghe is no spring chicken himself. His handspeed is nowhere near what it was when he was younger.

End of story, that's exactly what would have happened.

Exactly what I said during and after the fight. I think a prime Hopkins would have stopped Joe after the Knock down in an aggressive fashion. That said The fight was close and this is boxing so I have no real problem with Joe as the winner but All you Calzaghe fans should take note from tonights performance that your boy is smoke and mirrors and looked like an amateur tonight far too often. His chin aint that good and he's not half the fighter Hopkins was in his prime.
anybody who thinks being 43 helped hopkins is an idiot...
a yonuger version finishes calzaghe...
and also powerwise you do realise that calzaghe was heavier and stronger than he was at 168?
so he said himself...
you also realise that power is the last thing to go? speed agility etc but power stays alot longer
joe simply didn't impress and showed limitations that some fanboys truly believed he din't have

He hit hin with his best shot, which Joe ran onto and Joe got straight back up!!! KO??? No way, but I'll respect your opinion on a points win, even if I don't agree. This version of Hopkins had the best chance of winning , the experience kept him in the fight, Hopkins has matured like a fine wine
Hopkins was always a calculating. inside dirty fighter, with a few brilliant boxing clinics such as the Trinidad fight. More often than not the Hopkins we saw tonight was the Hopkins in his prime.
No way. Joe would have done better against a prime Hopkins IMO.
B-hop's game plan after getting the KD on Joe was to fight defensively. He was too tough to crack but Joe managed to.

He'd get knocked out. Stop being a crybaby. Joe won
