If you see it as a wipe out , you're simply a nuthugger or a hater, so I can't really argue with you. I think it's a close fight. I think it's a 7-5 fight.
Diaconu is a good fighter but it wouldn't be close. Its just a different level of talent and skill. In fact, what southpaw has Diaconu beaten?
Hnery got whooped the cleanest, he's just a mosnter, nobody knocks this guy out. He got flush clean like 40 times and nada.
Just because Diaconu doesn't stop makes it seems like he can't be stopped? Please, a consistent hard puncher with good stamina and boxing ability can stop him from accumulation. Diaconu is the best opponent that he has fought.
I'll be honest with you,
I thought that Dawson looked like a million bucks against Adamek but then Johnson just whooped on him for the last 4 rounds despite being 39. I think he might have even taken out smth of Dawson.
As far as Diaconu vs Dawson it's a close fight regardless who the winner is simply cause both of them can box nicely and can punch. Diaconu got tired in his last fight, Dawson showed that he could get hurt. You're talking about Dawson having 6 inches on Diaconu, but he did have 5 on Johnson too.
In the U.S. I'll take Dawson over Diaconu cause he'll fight a safe fight and he'll get rewarded for it. In Canada, I'll take Diaconu.
Glen Johnson is a multiple world champion and a battle tested warrior. He has never been knocked down or out on his feet in his entire career. When Hopkins stopped him, he was on his feet and not seriously hurt. His chin reminds me of a Marvin Hagler type, Rex Cobb or Librado Anrade. Diaconu has showed that he doesn't like to be hit and his chin is definitely not as good as Johnson's and his defense is not as good either. He will be hit clean by Dawson and a lot at that.
Henry was in the fight simply cause he is a monster fighter. He got whooped on. He got hit so many times clean, I mean my hats is off to him. If you look the first 9 rounds, Diaconu outclassed him. Then he ended up tired, which is not a diss on him rather a compliment on Henry who is a freaking beast despite being slow and all.
I seen Henry block most of those shots and was walking Diaconu down. His face was not busted up because he was neutralizing most of those big looping punches from Diaconu. He was catching Diaconu with uppercuts at will and was actually backing him against the ropes, which is not good since Diaconu is suppose to be the pressure fighter. Towards the end of the fight, i didn't like the body language that Diaconu showed. Every time he would be hit clean, he would complain to the referee about fouls that didn't even happen. Dawson is a very hard puncher and will be hitting Diaconu more than he is being hit. This fight doesn't look good for Diaconu.
I thought Dawson looked worse in the Johnson match compared to his previous fights. I think the change in trainers and the 7 month lay off affected him. Also Johnson was the FIRST person to ever pressure Dawson, neither Adamek or Harding ever pressured Dawson. Now that Dawson is experienced and knows what he needs to do to win, I expect Dawson to beat Diaconu.
It was more of what Dawson didn't do rather than what Johnson did. He fought on the inside against an inside fighter and thats not good. He completely abandoned his height and great boxing advantage. He tried to bring the fight to Johnson when he was suppose to be keeping him at bay, tying up and timing Johnson coming in. I know that he will be smarter next time around because being in with a ring veteran like Johnson will only do him good. If the Dawson that fought Adamek showed up, then he would have beaten Johnson handily because he didn't fight on the inside. He went to the body and quickly got back out. Not trading with Adamek and give him his chances to win the fight.
I disagree,
Diaconu can box as good as Chad despite his size. Dawson does not have the strenght or chin of Henry, so your point is mute. If Diaconu hit Dawson with the same shots he hit Henry with, Dawson wouldn't be still coming for more.
Dawson is not a strong fighter, Henry is, Diaconu outclassed him but he spent himself. He wouldn't spend himself against Dawson though. Close fight probably going for Dawson but what else is new he won against Johnson which was a joke. I can see Glen Johnson beating Diaconu though.
Your entire analysis is mute to be honest. Diaconu can not box as good as Dawson and since he is the lesser boxer and shorter fighter by 6 inches, Dawson will be able to counter effectively, box and tie up and land sharp uppercuts on the inside, which is the punch that Henry landed every time that he would throw it. He will time those wild shots and take advantage of Diaconu pulling straight back after he throws. Dawson is better defensively, has the better offensive weaponary and in my opinion is the harder puncher because has the better knockout percentage while beating the better line of fighters. Dawson will not be getting hit with the same punches that Henry was hit with. Hes just an all around better fighter. Also, Dawson is very strong. He was able to hold off Johnson when he was hurt, plus hes 6'3 and is looking bigger with every fight.
Also, show me a point in the fight where Henry was outclassed? He was in the fight and Diacnu won a tight unanimous decision.

Now that Dawson has handled pressured, the only thing for him now is to improve, and I expect that when he faces Diaconu.
Diaconu can defeat Dawson, it's a good style matchup for him! He will knock him out. Johnson with his iron chin would be a difficult fight for Adrian though.
That's why slicksouthpaw16 wants him to fight Tarver - he knows Tarver is a good matchup for Dawson, while Diaconu is not.
Diaconu leaves himself open, being stationary like that. He had trouble with Henry when Henry decided to fight on the inside. Dawson is a different fighter than Henry because he likes to fight on the outside and knows how to use his height and reach advantage. Diaconu with his style likes to fight on the outside, which is bad against Dawson, and since Dawson is more experienced now, I favor Dawson.

Diaconu just barely beat Henry. You said that he is a bad style match up for Dawson, but a slick rangy boxer puncher like Dawson is a horrible style match up for Diaconu. He has the ability to take advantage of those wild shots and Henry just exposed him for not having the gas to fight in the later rounds. You will be in for a rude awakening when they fight and i am willing to bet points on it as well. When Henry was hitting him with hard shots, it seemed like there was points in the fight where he would break down mentally and start to complain to the referee. He edged this one out but Dawson and Mustaffa Muhammad should feel confident about a victory here. Diaconu is not ready for Dawson.
Chris Henry is in the ring top ten right now! None of Dawson's opponents before Adamek are there. Here, take a look:
http://www.thering-online.com/ringpages/ratings2.html
Eric Harding retired since then and that was 2 years ago. Of course the rankings are going to change. Here is a more reliable source. Out of all the organizations, Henry is only ranked in the top 10 by the WBC.
http://fightnews.com/rankings2.htm
Hoye was in the Ring top ten at light heavyweight.
Daniels has lost EIGHT of his last NINE, five by KO.
Gardner has lost THREE of his last FIVE.
Chris Henry won his past 23 fights! How are Daniels and Gardner better than Henry?
Why do you hate Diaconu, slicksouthpaw16?
When was Hoye ranked in the top 10? I don't hate Diaconu at all, but there is no comparison to his opponents with Dawson's because Chad has clearly fought and beaten the better line of fighters. Henry is unbeaten...ok, but who has he fought or what name has he beaten? Thats what i mean, Dawson was barely rated in the top 15 when he beat Harding who was top 10. Diaconu is already in the top 10 and he has yet to beat a top 10 light heavyweight.
Carl Daniels, Ian Gardner and Eric Harding are not even as well known as Rico Hoye (who was in a title fight previously), and those three are not better fighters than Chris Henry.
Tell me you are joking. Hoye was stopped by Clinton Woods who is not a big puncher or an elite major player in the division by no means. Who has he beaten and where was he ranked at the time? Because i have never heard of the guy before or after that fight. He does not know how to box, tie up or use his height to his advantage. Diaconu has just beat a top 15 opponent today and he barely edged it out. Nothing convinces me that he can beat Chad Dawson or go the distance with him. Eric Harding Gave Roy Jones his toughest title defense before he moved up to heavyweight and before the weight drain and he was the first to beat Antonio Tarver. Harding is better than all of the fighters that you just named and ranked higher as well.
Who did Dawson fight before Adamek? His first title defense last June was against a "D" level fighter.
Diaconu won an eliminator against Hoye, and now has won an interim title against a undefeated young contender.
Chad Dawson beat Eric Harding who is a well known name around the light heavyweight division and Harding was rated at #10 by the ring magazine at the time. The winner of the Dawson/Harding fight (which was Dawson) earned a shot at the WBC light heavyweight champion Adamek. Dawson was top 15 at the time he beat Eric and Eric was a top 10 ranked fighter . Diacnou has yet to beat a top 10 light heavyweight. Rico Hoye was not ranked in the top 15 at the time and Chris Henry was probably at 15. Dawson earned his way to the top and he is looking to fight the best opponents. When he fought Jesus Ruiz( who was top 15) he was suppose to be fighting Paul Briggs(who is ranked in the top 10) and when he fought Mendoza, Diaconu pulled out of the fight so its not Dawson's fault that he is fighting these opponents. Glen Johnson was ranked 3rd by the ring magazine when Dawson beat him so thats a great start.
I swear to god Diaconu and Dawson were supposed to fight before but Diaconu pulled out.
Am I crazy or is that true?
If he pulled out before, I believe he can wait now.
Just my opinion.
Exactly, he pulled out because of an injury that occurred in training. He had his golden opportunity and since he pulled out with only weeks to go until the fight, he can wait for a shot.
No, the WBC president said Chad Dawson has to fight Diaconu next - the WBC interim titles are "interim" in the truest sense of the word. Remember Maskaev had to fight interim titleholder Peter.
Glen Johnson just lost in a voluntary defense by Dawson.
Here's the article that i read of fightnews.com.
''There is no rest for the "Road Warrior" Glen Johnson. Just a week after his controversial decision loss against Chad Dawson, the people’s light heavyweight champion will travel to Bucharest, Romania to serve as color commentator for the interim WBC light heavyweight championship bout between unbeaten warriors Adrian Diaconu and Chris Henry."This should be a great fight between two undefeated fighters who don’t want to see their '0' go," said Johnson. "And not only do I get to offer my take on the fight to the viewing audience, but I’m also getting the opportunity to do some scouting work on a possible future opponent. So it’s the best of both worlds for me."

Johnson is looking to face Diaconu since he won the interim title today. The winner of that will get a shot at Dawson when he beats Tarver.
wtf? chad dawson is light heavywieght champ in wbc not this guy wtf?
Diaconu is not the WBC light heavyweight champion, he just has the interim title so that makes him the mandatory challenger for Dawson belt. Just like Michael Kadsitas was the interim champion for Casamayor's belt. :fing02:
