Pretty sure Calzaghe isn't underestimating Hopkins power because Calzaghe had to deal with ppl underestimating his own power through out his career. His slaps that hurt Chris Eubank, Mikkel Kessler, Jeff Lacy, Mitchell, and everyone else on his record. I think Calzaghe still hits harder then Hopkins though.
I'm starting to lean towards Hopkins, simply because this guy is like a robot and if Calazghe rushes in, Hopkins will pick him apart piece by piece.
However, will his age nd the fact that hes slow play a part in this?
Calzaghe is gonna have to be careful, so he doesn't get too excited and get battered by the counter right. Calzaghe isn't gonna knock out Hopkins so hes gonna have to be fucking incredible, just to win on points.
Personally, if I was Calzaghe. I wouldn't have taken this fight. If he wins, hes beaten a washed-up 43-year old and if he loses, his career is literally over with the 0 gone.
Difference is Calzaghe will be 12 million dollars richer after tonight, more than he's made his entire career combined. I agree it is sort of lose, lose for him tonight besides that. I get a kick out of how people are saying Hopkins throws one punch per millenia these days, he threw 640 punches in the Wright fight, which was 8 months ago. 640 punches tonight will be more than enough to win, especially since Calzaghe's punch output will drop dramatically after he gets countered a zillion times.

This post says it all. 5 stars.

Does anyone think Hopkins hits harder than Kessler?
I wouldn't think so, but when you watch that fight carefully it's plain to see that Kessler missed dozens of openings that Hopkins would be able to close on in his sleep.. Add about 20 or 30 more clean, hard power punches to what Kessler did, and you might have a different picture.
Lets not underestimate Joes chin and fighting like a rabid dog when hurt rather than folding!
No doubt whatsoever Calzaghe has that kind of heart, and that kind of chin.

Depends on a couple of things.
My most likely prediction would be a fairly comfortable Calzaghe UD.
I do think that there is a possibility of a late Calzaghe TKO.
However, I think that there is a risk of a boring fight, marred by Hopkins running around and using a lot of hugging and headbutts and taking a robbery decision on hometown decision.
Hopkins is gonna fight from the outside, inside imo (also known by some as running)
Im torn (not in a natalie imbruliga way though) to be honest, in the beggining i went for calzaghe, this week, i leaned towards hops, now im thinking calzaghe again.
Ill stick with a boring calzaghe UD, but i got a feeling there is gonna be a shock.
If they don't think Hopkins can punch, then they will be sorely mistaken. Hopkins can punch very well. He doesn't go for knockouts because that expends a lot of energy, but if need be he can take a guy out.
I was speaking to one of his sparring partners and he said he was shocked at how hard he hit with 18 oz gloves.
Yea, but audley believes it, cos he is real delusional.
Remember when he said he had the skills to transcend boxing?
:lol1:
Ps. I did ask you in another thread but you might have missed it, whats your prediction for tonight?

I like Steve bunce he speaks the truth which some brit doesnt want to here, I really hope Enzo and Joe doesnt Underestimate B-Hops power like Billy graham/Hatton and the whole Hatton fanatics did Mayweather.
We need more boxing expert/journo like Bunce who arent there just because of been patriotic.
i like him. he does speak the truth but he also talks a lot of shit. he said the other day that when oscar foughts bhop, oscar was considered the toughest man ever
Now now. He said that its not even worth considering until he has a HW title. He's hardly going to say "Nah, this'll never happen because my career has been shit and even now is on as much of a 'decline' as you can consider a career that has never hit any heights, whereas Haye seems like he might do quite well, so he'd never face anyone as lowly as me".

personally i think b hop and freddy roach have underestimated 'slapzaghes' power. He's faught heavier fighters more consistantly than bhop.
Plus this has gotta be hopkins last fight, he can't fight forever.
GO JOE!!!!!!
Let them keep thinking Joe slaps. It's a good thing. Should Hopkins get knocked out (unlikely but not impossible) they'll all look stupid.

He said he would like to do the fight when they both had a HW title, which is stupid for two reasons.
1) Haye would knock him out cold
2) He aint gonna win a world HW title

I think Steve is a good-hearted guy, but he isn't accurate in his predictions. On the other hand, who really is? If we were all accurate, we'd all be millionaires. On another hand still, boxing wouldn't be as exciting.
