The fight was NOWHERE NEAR close. The Floyd/Oscar fight was at least a close match, and I don't really have a problem with a close fight or split decision resulting in a rematch. Hatton was a plodding punching bag that was not allowed to fight illegally, and Floyd showed exactly what happens to Hatton when Hatton is not allowed to hold and hit. So I ask, why the f*ck does Hatton think he deserves a rematch with Floyd?
It's his right if Mayweather is willing to sign the contract. It is also the media's right to denounce such a meaningless fight and it is also the right of the public to spend their money elsewhere instead of shelling out cash on a fight that means very little.
What I want to know is this: How many Hatton fans are willing to travel across the Atlantic to see that again?

you cant hate on Hatton for wanting a rematch everybody who ends up falling short will want one, the question is Why does Floyd think Hatton deserves a rematch and if its really for the money it shouldnt be allowed to happen.
in fact I really hope that if Floyd does go through with a rematch, the WBC should do whats best for the divison.
Presumably Hatton who is the linear and recognised champ at JWW, and who was unbeaten before Floyd, feels he should get the chance to try and avenge the SINGLE L on his record. I tend to agree with him. Its not like he was some prospect or journeyman, he's a proven elite, with the largest support in boxing, who's accomplished a lot himself.
You can look at the fight two ways, as a routine Mayweather win, or as an unusual Ricky hatton loss. I'm sure Ricky and lots of his fans see it the second way. The story isn't only about Mayweather, its about Ricky too. I'd like to see him get another go, he's achieved enough in boxing to be worthy of more respect than he gets.
Really need to start giving fair options in polls. He didn't come awfully close, but close enough to warrant one is a logical option, which can't be voted for. Hence ppl are forced to vote for something very positive or very negative.
it was a blowout, Mayweather made Hatton look inferior, Hatton did nothing but be a punching bag, so I don't think "he did enough to deserve a rematch" deserves to be an option.
He is a greedy fuck. But we already knew that. Wouldn't you accept a bucket of easy money?
It is ironic that Hatton is talking about a Floyd rematch. I'd like to see him rematch Collazo.
Sure, but the way I look at it, its hard to blame an underdog for taking a tough fight. This is still a fight sport, people can get hurt. This is why I dont hate on Oscar for doing the same thing(but I did hate on him for fighting Forbes).
So true. But Floyd has done that his whole career. Did Rick watch any tapes? All top fighters have their tricks, right?
This is true, but at the same time, Floyd really outdid himself in that fight courtesy of Joe Cortez.
Do you realize the rounds with the least amount of ref intervention were the rounds Hatton got smashed in ,, take your blinkers of buddy and watch the fight and count the breaks in what rounds and tell me how many times they were broken while punching , look at the punch stats the scores and then the KO , Hatton done sweet fuck all nothing in this fight and thats a fact live with it .
Getting an elbow shoved in the mouth can make you a bit flustered, frustrated and careless ya think?

Why does Floyd want it?
blah blah blah keep talkin shit, ref WAS shite, hatton didn't perform well. Nothing wrong with hatton wanting a rematch, if you have a problem with a rematch happening talk shit about mayweather.

I agree, the ref had little to do with Hatton being a human punching bag in that fight.
That wouldn't be so bad apart from Cortez was allowing Floyd to hold and hit. He just wasn't letting Hatton do the same. The refereeing was unfair and that's the beef.
Hatton thinks he can beat Mayweather, that's why he wants the fight. Mayweather has the opportunity for a very lucrative fight against Hatton in an outdoor stadium in front of a hundred thousand fans, that's why he'll grant the fight.
The question is do YOU think the fight is warranted. I can give VERY apt and FACTUAL reasoning for why the Floyd/DLH rematch was made but even I can admit I DON'T AGREE WITH IT. Do you agree with Mayweather/Hatton 2?
Getting in close, holding one of your opponents arms and teeing off with your free arm is called "holding and hitting", and is not supposed to be allowed in a boxing ring. In an mma ring, I think it's legal, but not in boxing.

The best chance of a rematch is if Floyd gets beat first
Floyds never coming over here, if he has not got the balls to fight cotto then what makes you feel he has got what it takes to step out of his comfort zone and fight in another country
Fighting Hatton in England may make more money than a Cotto fight, but I think even Floyd knows a rematch with Hatton will not be purchased via ppv by many outside of delusional Hatton fans.

Hatton does not really deserve a rematch with Floyd, i mean the first fight was good but not that good, it seems Floyd is getting ready to leave boxing so he should fight other exciting fighters. Hattons style isnt really attractive.
