The WBO is a complete joke. Amir Khan number 1 contender when he has had barely over 15 fights and Gary Lockett made number 1 contender when he was inactive for a few months . This oragnisation is fucked up.
Any one agree or disagree
Which he is more than happy to defend againt Locket.
The only reason he is defending against lockett is because John Duddy was so bad in his last fight and got an extremely nasty cut and was no able to fight on that date.
John Duddy was always his first choice to fight first not lockett
People keep going on about the WBO. Well, a lot of good fighters have held this belt-Pavlik and Calzaghe included. I have no problem with it. At least it offers the chance of unification matches. Every belt has fighters who dont deserve to be so highly ranked.
Pavlik won the belt against taylor along with the wbc belt and Calzaghe has only had that belt because the has the biggest joke of a manager in boxing Frank Warren

You are just figuring his out now?
The WBO may be a joke of a sanctioning body, but look at these rules that the WBC has!
In order to maintain a WBC strap this organization requires their champs to defend at least twice a year in either a voluntary or mandatory defense in any of the following sequences against any of the following challengers: 1.) A consensus top 10 contender; 2.) A champion or top 10 contender OF ANOTHER WEIGHT CLASS (higher or lower) with a majority vote of Board of Governors (I call this one the Dela Hoya/Hatton 'exception' rule because it has given Floyd the position to legitimately fight these guys without entertaining true welters and still retain his strap); 3.) A former or retired world champion with a majority vote of Board of Governors; 4.) Another boxing organizations champion if recognized by the WBC, upon majority vote of Board of Governors. Now, there are other rules in the mix, but the few just listed lay the blueprint to why a fighter can go so long without feeling the pinch of his organization forcing him to defend against top tier fighters in his own division

The alphabet organizations (bar one) is filled with political rankings and is not useful as ranking-tool if you want to know the 10 best fighters in a given division.
The only organization which, as far as ratings are concerned, has some credibility is the IBO who ranks fighters based on objective criteria. However, since the organization doesnt carry much prestige, it's champions is usually rated in the bottom half of the top 10.

The WBO used to be nicknamed after an Italian promoter / manager whose surname began with B, I can't for the life of me remember it but all his fighters used to get title shots
