"Kermit wants the fight. He told me: 'lets do it.' It's a good fight but it's a fight, not to put Kermit down, it's not one I'm comfortable we're going to win.
When you're a world champion you owe it to the public, you've got to fight the best, and I think, for him, Margarito is the most credible fight but the most difficult fight and the biggest-risk fight. But, more than Cotto or Shane Mosley, I think this is the fight he needs to fight."
Emanuel Steward, Boxing Monthly, April 2008
Kermit got no balls. No cojones esta noche. Manny should had done better managing, if he knew Kermit was not ready. Anyway, kermit got what he deserved. Wanting to become better needs to be accompanied with becoming better. I guess Kermit will still be a "One Punch Wonder".

I agree brotha, this is the kinda fight that makes you or brakes you. Time to find out who Cintron is, Cotto did it against Zab and Mosley, time for Cintron to avenge that loss or step down.
This speaks to Cintron's heart and courage and desire to "get that loss back" more than anything. Good for him.
Boxing needs more fighters that want to take tough challenges.
AGREE.
Wow, I like Cintron all the better now.
He knows Margarito is a tough matchup, and wants to prove he can beat him. If only Floyd had had that kind of champion mentality a couple years ago, we wouldn't have had to watch the Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir fights while Margarito was begging to fight him for a bigger payday the whole time!
Props to Cintron...
GOOD K for YA!!!
Gomez has a better chance of winning tonight than Cintron. Tough words from your trainer, but if Manny hyped Kermit up, we'd know it's a lie.
........................... (speechless)...................:pat:
War Cintron!! War! God Dam It
WAR!!!
You have to give him props!what it comes down to is...the will to be great, and to do that you have to take chances. If you don't try to dare to be great... you will always have it in the back of your mind that you never gave it your best gave your heart to something that yeah you know what there is an overwhelming possibly I will lose. For all the peps that have done this in their life they know what it's like for all the people who play it safe... you will never know because you never tried. If more people took chances in boxing as opposed to taking the safe secure rout it would bring it back to the golden years of when people used to watch greatness. win or win Kermit's my boy! mad respect for this fight!
:boxing:
TWo (or one) THUMBS UP!!!! :fing02:
i don't blame him, margarito is a tough fight for almost anybody
PARTIALLY TRUE.
I give Kermit huge props for making this fight. He is going in against a feared fighter who already mauled him, just to see where he stands now. I don't see him winning, but I give the guy all my respect. I wish there was more out there like him.
Not everyone can be perfect... lol
Anyway, the fight is happening because Kermit said so. Even Tony had publicly thanked him for the tittle shot. Manny is just using some mind games.
I didn't want to bore you fellas with it, but in this article Steward talks about the youtube video Cintron posted challenging Margarito. Manny claims that Kermit did that without his knowledge. I guess the implication here is that Cintron is/was obsessed and wouldn't take no for an answer.. I still find this remark by Steward telling, odd, and uncommon.
I think Scott made a good point regarding professionalism. Even on a basic level when you're a family or part of a team saying things like this are taboo to say the absolute fucking least.. :lol1:
Sometimes its good for a trainer to be honest, this way Cintron doesnt go into the fight thinking to himself the first match was a fluke and now since picking up a world class trainer there is no way he can lose, IMO that was a good thing for Steward to say in all honesty, keep Cintron in check keep that fear pumping through his blood it might be what keeps him honest in the fight and able to pull out a win.
IMO its a pick em fight even though Tony won the first match, Cintron can bang.
I can't imagine how Cintron could possibly be overcofident against someone who knocked his ass out. If anything, Cintron needs a confidence booster. No way he will forget what happened three years ago.

Manny being honest he gets critised. When Manny's acting like a delusional twat he still gets critised. :ugh:
He should be honest when he is commentating for HBO. He also should look after the best interests of his clients who pay him when he's not. If I were Cintron's promoter I'd try to fire him for saying that.

for cintrons sake, i hope that he has seen that statement and uses it to motivate him.
i've picked cintron to win, but i think that magarito is going win it in the late rounds.
i personally don't think that cintron is going to be able to keep magarito off of him.......................
Well Manny loves Margarito. He has always liked him. Did you even hear him whem Marg fought Golden? Manny was practically creaming in his pants. It freaks me out that he is allowing himself to be in Kermit's corner. How does the guy stand a chance when even his own corner has no faith in him?
I tell you guys time and time again that Steward rarely blows smoke up his own fighers asses. All the more reason for you people to believe that's he's sincere when he says that Wlad could be the best heavy ever and that he's more skilled than Big Len.
This is just more reason for me to root for Kermit. He has shown massive balls by taking this fight. Of the four fights tonight, this one interests me the most.
