Does anyone have a really good description of what they expect Hopkins to do against Calzaghe from a technical stand point?
What tactics is Hopkins going to employ to win this fight?
I know all the BS about Hopkins fouling which i think is slightly overplayed by people like me. But I`m interested in real boxing fans' opinions of how this can play out in Hopkins' favour, not just because of what type of guy he is or because he's your local fighter, but what he is going to do when the bell rings and why it will be successful enough for him to win.
Assume fair judging, no fouls from either side and 100% from both guys.
Calzaghe creates momentum sway his way.
Bernard is a momentum ruiner.
choose ur poison...its a tough call really, but I'ma go with B-Hop due to his track record in southpaws and also this being his 3rd in a row...granted that Joe is undefeated but Joe hasn't fought anyone as slick as B-Hop is, while bernard has fought faster & stronger guys ala roy jones back in the day...although he lost, that experience was a million bucks for the executioner... Hopkins is Bika, Kessler, Eubanks, Reid, Brewer all rolled into 1...and then sum...
We'll wait and see about being all those guys rolled into one on the 19th. That sounds like a more exciting fighter than Bernard Hopkins, if you don't mind me saying. Even Eubank and Kessler rolled into one would be deadly. Unfortunately, I, even as somewhat of a Hopkins fan, sometimes see Hops' fights, especially the ones of recent times, as complete snoozefests.

BHOPS tactics
1. Take away Joe's jab.
2. Come forward to smother his workrate.
3. Beat Joe w/ footwork to keep Joe out of range.
4. Joe has no defense so he'll expose that.
He'll counter punch all night. Joe C will come forward throwin like crazy and B-Hop will pick his shots. Of course he'll play dirty in close, using his hip and hittin low on the side. Against a lefty he might do some headbutting whether he means to or not.
I think he's gonna try and make Joe follow him around the ring and counter punch the shit out of him.
hmmmm....... sounds kind of common place. Hopkins is to crafty to go with the probable tactics
I think he'll do a lot of lateral movement causing Calzaghe to come foward then counter and making Calzaghe's weakness shows.
After he hits he'll tie him up and he'll make it rough on the inside frustrating Calzaghe. Hopkins should not come foward and he needs to make Calzaghe come foward at all times.
Cool. Imagine if they are both thinking the same thing. Snore...

Boxing forums are ludicrous. We get people who've been a fan of boxing for a year or two, explaining in detail how a professional boxer who's been eating, sleeping and shitting boxing for 26 years needs to win a fight with a 43 year old man.
Karma and five-star this motherfucker
Hold, headbutt, elbow, shoulder, push, headbutt, hold and repeat. It will be the ugliest fight you will ever see on the highest level. I predict booing from about the 3rd round on.
There's no point in having a plan, those guys have got it right. Better to be adaptable to any situation.
But really, WTF. Too many people speak like they know how to win a fight better than Calzaghe, as though he's some bumbling moron who doesn't understand what it takes to beat Hopkins. Trust me, Calzaghe and his father have been studying Hopkins for at least a decade.
I'm sure Calzaghe is expecting this as well so I'd also expect him to have his own plan for dealing with Hopkins tactics
The Calzaghes have never had a plan in 80-90 fights, amateur and pro, and have never lost.
They won't have a plan
Assume fair judging, no fouls from either side and 100% from both guys.
If we assume those things, which is unsafe, he has no chance at all. I don't think he could win more than two rounds with fair judging and reffing, as well as no fouls
I agree with most of what has been said. Joe's comfort zone seems to be when a opponent just stands in front him...he'll drop his hands, throw punches from all kinds of wild angles, let off flurries, etc. Hopkins won't stand in front, instead he'll be moving around all night. He'll try to frustrate Joe by making his lunge in and look to counter. I also expect Hopkins to look for openings for the lead straight right and whether it lands or not he'll look to take the fight inside where I think he'll outwork Calzaghe. Like Hopkins said, "he'll be the bull and I'll be the matador".
I'm sure Calzaghe is expecting this as well so I'd also expect him to have his own plan for dealing with Hopkins tactics. Though Enzo has stated they don't want to give Hopkins anytime to even think, basically to overwhelm him which I think would be a mistake.
I've said this before but the way Hopkins punches Calzaghe is in for a long night. Why at five punches per round Calzaghe could potentially be hit by up to 60 punches!
how bout you check the stats from the tarver and winky fight
Hopkins is going to do three things that win him this fight easy. Hammer Joe with right hands from the outside. Not be there for the return flurries and out muscle Calzaghe when he gets inside. You will not see Hopkins covering up and waiting for Joe to stop punching like all of his opponents have so far.
