Who do you guys have winning this one in their respective primes at cruiserweight? David Haye brings to the table pure knockout power and a great skills set, whereas Toney's fighting abilities are nearly unparalleled in the game, and he enjoys an all time great chin and huge experience.
Who ya got?
I'm just saying that you can't compare the perfomance of a fighter by these two fights. C'mon Iran Barkley doesn't even throw a punch half as fast as Jones.
Its not a performance comparison its shape comparison. What he is talking about is how Toney could perform when in proper SHAPE no matter who the opponent is. Nobody would compare Barkley to Jones jr.
If he had to be hospitalized before the fight... they wouldnt let him fight... they JUST wouldnt
He had to be hooked up to Ivs when he was in his dressing room and was hospitalized shortly before. He weighed 214 LBS 2 weeks before the fight. He was killing himself to make the weight.
the way Haye loads up with the right hand & follows through with it Toney would take his head off with counter right hands
BTW i dont mean Toney from today :lol1:
Or maybe its the fact that Toney had to be hospitalized and hooked up to Ivs before the fight so he wouldn't pass out. Again, look at the size difference in both fights.

Look at the difference in weight between these two fights. The point is that if Toney had come in shape when he fought Jones, he would have done much better and had a chance at beating him. Toney was actually smaller when he fought Barkley than in this video but they didn't have that video.

Maybe it has something to do with Iran Barkley being not as good as Jones, but just maybe

James Toney. For the record even after seeing the fight. I would still take a prime healthy, not weight drained Toney over Jones, Jr. Even if Toney would still lose it would be a much better fight.
I definitely agree and it seems that me and you are the only ones that can see that. The in shape Toney that fought Iran Barkley would have a good chance at upsetting Jones. When he would actually fight Roy instead of watching him, then he would be doing great and he would land his right hand counter at will. Even then Jones fought extremely cautious and didn't take any chances.
There is a big difference in shape between the Toney than fought Barkley and the Toney that fought Jones. The Toney that fought Barkley could fight for the full 12, was trim and had great punch output. The Toney that fought Jones was fat, hospitalized and couldn't fight for more than 1 minute of each round.

I'm talking primes mate. And how do I add a bastard poll to this thread? My computer shutdown.
Well if we're talking prime for prime...I would have to go with Toney. Haye has power but I think Toney would make him look foolish. Toney would be to slick for him and would counter Haye in an interesting match.
Toney was a very smart boxer and some people didnt give him credit for it. He defense is one of the best in the business and he wouldnt get hit that much.(just my opinion)
I can't tell you how much i would love this fight to happen. Toney is too old to fight someone as fast and powerful as Haye. It would be a vicious beating.

James Toney is damn near shot man....David Haye will beat him now.(and James Toney is one of my favorite fighters)
